It just goes to show that no matter how much you think you know, no matter how well you think you have life figured out ....
.... there is always something new to be learned.
Arrested a young female for DUI & Reckless Driving recently, and as we pull away from the roadside enroute to jail, she starts crying saying she can't go to jail, that she did a few hours before and that she couldn't bear to go back. She was crying and so I .... in an earnest attempt to brighten her day just a bit to maybe make the 15+ mile ride to jail and the breathalyser a bit more bearable for us both ... started to tell her the good points of our regional jail facility. I was explaining how they have clean rooms, clean linen, it was early enough that she'ld make supper and that breakfast was always good there. I spoke of the climate control and how much more comfortable she'ld be than if it were the old jail that we used to use just 18 years ago and back that was built in 1839.
Then she enlightened me ....
.... ummmm, ....
.... did you all know that jails will not let you wear thongs and underwire pushup bras? :wow:
Yeah, I know what your thinking ..... like ..... :wow: "WOW" ! :wow: Totally blew me away too! Who would'a thought?
I was now running about 65 north bound now and I just turned to her as she sat there "cuffed and stuffed" in the passenger seat and after the shock began to ease up a little ....
.... told her that in over 25 years of doing this ....
.... of all the reasons I had heard or thought of for me not wanting to go to jail ....
.... that was quite possibly the one reason that had never occurred to me yet.
And believe it or not, I asked a memeber of jail staff while booking her and ....
.... it's true. ;)
And that brings me to 6,438 cataloged reasons I wouldn't want to go to jail. I thought I'ld share it with y'all as well, been telling all my LEO buddies.
So .... Big Dave, TW, and you other guys, don't say you weren't warned.
