Ok, guys here is a hobby I enjoy doing in my past time.

I build scale model in 1/87 scale (87 times smaller than the real deal)
If your familiar with model trains, this is HO scale.
I started building model trains since I was really young (I still am young-ish).

I have a model railroad called the Thunder Risdge Railroad. Currently I do not have a layout, but I still retain the collection.

Living in an apartment limited my amount of space, and delevoped an interest in building 1/87 trucks (and cars).

I found a site that promotes this:
http://www.1-87vehicles.org/
There are 250 galleries now, showing amazing models taht are typically the size of a cell phone.

I quickly became involved with the orginization and built more and more models, of which were displayed on the site.
Here are a few of my models.

http://www.1-87vehicles.org/images/Freightliner/Freightliner_FLA86_drom_LG.jpg
This is one of my very first truck models. It's a Freightliner FLA86 with dromedary. I completed it around 1999.

A Heavy Duty International S-series Dump Truck. I did this one in 2003

This is a T600 I decked out with a flat top sleeper. It also has a third helper axle with low profile tires (down). Details on this included the airlines, spare tire and snowchains (hung under the sleeper). Also 2003.
This is were ATCO Transportation started taking shap in my head, and developed a fleet paint scheme.

A CDF International 7300 Dozer transporter and D5N Dozer. Both are detailed following CDF spec's. I spent a lot of time on this one and ended up winning best emergency vehicle in competition with it in 2004.

I know it's a dark picture, sorry. Still working on ATCO fleet schemes.... I settled on a medium metaliac blue, as represented on this Peterbilt 377.
The 53' trailer has sides painted to represent stainless panels... 2004

I also enjoy some vintage trucks, expecially the ones still working. So I gave this 1948 Pete a cushy job hauling these cool Mini's around... 2004

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO ASSEMBLE A MODEL LIKE THAT??

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO ASSEMBLE A MODEL LIKE THAT??

Depends on what form the model starts in. There are some really nice ready out of the box models that take only a few minutes to fix up... I have a bad habit of not leaving things like this alone tho. I tend to spend maybe an evening on some, or a day or two on others. The really detailed, contest peices take longer. I'd say my CDF truck took a month, not including research. We were given a month for this model build off I'm working on. I however have only been doing my homework on the subject, and have yet to start building. I await some materials, and figure I won't need more than a couple of weeks to build the peice. This is of course at a leiserly pace, after work hours, and only for an hour or two at any given time...

Thanks,
It's a hobby... You just gotta do what you enjoy doing. It's a great way to break you of the normalcy of day to day life. I choice do it in a 1/87 scale world... In this world changing tires all the way around takes only 10 seconds... lol

Our next build off promisses to be interesting too. It will be called "Million Dollar Rigs, with Visible Loads"

DO you guys have any ideas on what I should build?
This site has some great prospects:
http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/bill_banks_flatbeds.htm Maybe I'll make a poll on my top, say five ideas, and you guys can vote on it...

I'll get them this time...

Cool stuff. I keep my eye on all the diecast stuff myself. Mainly 1/64th. I thought about tryin to do something custom, but never get around to it.

ATCO, I admire your patience to put into detail, the 'finer art' of trucks.

You've got some pretty impressive stuff there (that you've posted).
