It has been almost 5 years now since I sold my first truck- an ex- Wal-Mart '95 International cabover.
For some reason, I tend to notice cabovers on the road- especially when they're clean & look good.
Here's an '87 Freightliner I saw the other day:

One of the last Wal-Mart cabovers, being used as a yard tractor now.

This appears to be a mid- '70s model Freightliner:

Anyone remember these- a Ford CL-9000?

A rather cool Kenworth K-100 Flat Top:

A "C.O.D." (Cab Over Driver?)

Crete wouldn't assign me to ths one when I asked them about it. :crying:

....And an ex- "Wal-Mart Cart" that looked like mine, but decked out a bit nicer than mine was.

I'm not big on cabovers. They just don't look right to me. Besides, every time I got into one, I smashed my head. :wtf: :wtf:

WDCMD, that truck looks really cool!
Has the "gangster look" along with the dude standing next to it!
I can sense a resurgence in the popularity of cabovers gradually coming on, especially among those who "Insist on being different".
I may buy & restore a Kenworth K-100 some day- or an International 9600 110" BBC big bunk flat top like the one I owned before.

One thing I have noticed with cabovers still on the road in recent years: They're either very clean and/or fixed up really nice, or they are beat to death & falling apart due to neglect (almost as bad as most of those from Mexico that come across the border in towns like Laredo, El Paso, Del Rio, and the Rio Grande Valley).

I'll keep my eyes open, I'd love a cabover, specially a pete, since it's the only truck mentioned in Convoy that I've not yet driven loaded.

So does CR... ;) Slick lookin' ride  But I've got to guess that they (COE's) aren't aerodynamically too wonderful for fuel mileage, no?? Maybe my bud Larry can help out on this question, seeing as he operates one on a daily basis.

Older COEs are bricks, well designed ones are as aerodynamic as conventional (maybe not the short nose ones but still)...

I just found a photo of this rather cool old Peterbilt cabover in my photo album.
I saw that truck parked at TruckWorld in Hubbard, OH several months ago.

Guy here in Spokane has 8 2003 model Pete COE that he fleet purchased with 250 inch wheel base, they are set up with drom beds and he pulls 48 ft dry vans in and out of the bay area hauling beer and kegs on the droms. The new COE's are a little funky lookin but still retain the classic Pete look to them.
First truck I drove interstate was a 71 Pete COE truck and trailer set up, and it was great to drive and classy to look at. :)

I know a guy that bought an 1986 k-100 Aerodyne recently, almost identical to this one only gold. From what I was told he paid like 2500.00.He might just as well have stolen it.It was in VERY good shape needed very little work.

That blue K-100 with the spread-axle reefer........... SHARP!!!
I DO think most any cabover that isn't a set-back-axle version will be a collectors item in the future.
Dang, what I would give to have my old '95 International 9600 cabover back! I'll scan a few photos of it that I have at home next time I'm there.

That is what we call a Super "B" Train rig, which are very common in Canada. In Saskatchewan they also have these with tridem pup trailers so that would be 9 axles total. In Ontario and Michigan there are many single trailers with 5 or 6 axles and Michigan has recently reduced their maximum weight allowance and number of axles from 9 to 8 on their trailers. See the gallery on the Canadian site for one I posted, OK. Do you have the gravel dump trailers with the very long draw bar for dropping the load with out unhooking but jacknifing to get the main box emptied?
BTW that is a nice rig except it has the steering on the wrong side! Ha ha ha

Hahaha nice...forgot about the steering being on the other side!
I'm pretty sure we do have the gravel dump trailers here, will try and dig one up for you. Glad you liked the pic

Those long draw bars are on what we call lugger pups. I could not recall that terminology last night. (Delayed Alzheimers?)

I was telling Bonnie the other day that I have had thoughts of finding an old cabover I like, restoring it from the ground up, and using it to haul a 5th wheel camper to different places after I'm retired.
Then again, Diesel may cost over $10/gallon by the time I retire. :vmad:
