What your seeing is the California State flower - The Golden Poppy

Where I'm at is between Lancaster, CA and Gorman, CA looking south off of hwy 138 (mountains in the back ground are the "Angeles National Forest" - also the mountain range you cross over between Los Angeles to Bakersfield). This the the "Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve". It is so nice to see them blooming right now. This is the one place that I've really seen so many that it turns the ground the golden orange, they really are beautiful flowers IMO.
