James P Hoffa has won his 3rd term as President of the International Bortherhood of Teamsters.
Out of just under 300,000 votes cast, Hoffa garnered around 175,000 votes to take office.
Now, my personal opinion on this;
the are more than 1.5 million Teamsters in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, and only 300,000 thousand could take the time to vote. Every member had a return postage paid envelope to return there ballot in but the majority could not take the time to fill out a few slots and mail it in.................
real pathetic :wtf:
I know our government elections go this way also but at least these slackers get a pre stamped envelope so they dont have to pay postage! Like Hoffa said at the convention in June at Las Vegas," we do everything short of coming to your house and handing you a pencil to mark your ballot and putting it in the mail for you!!!"
These elections cost around 8 to 10 million bucks to put on via the Government Consent Decree. Alot of members b-itch about the money spent but wont do anything to change the process, so alot of money that could be used for organizing, member services, and health and welfare increases instead go towards mandatory stuff like this and then only few participate.
OK, my rant is over, and the views of this moderator and Teamster are mine alone, and dont necessarily reflect the views of the IBT or its officers and staff.................... ;)
