Hey Margie and everybody else. Anybody have any oppinions on TMC Transportation out of Des Moines. They say they are one of the largest flatbed companies and it seems like they have a good training program.

When I was in school at Central Tech Truck Driver Training School their recruiter came in and pitched the company. They do have nice equipment (387 Petes and Renegade aluminum flats). Their benefits were good and they pay decent. 2 guys with my class signed-on with them after graduation. Other than that, that's all I know. I don't know how they treat their drivers or any other specifics.

As long as they pay you well to tarp as TMC=Tarp MY Cargo
Nice lookin' equipment, always clean...as long as the pay package is sufficient, why not give it a try.

Let the words "Large Company" stick in your mind. TMC had some bankruptcy issues but I believe they resolved them. Make sure you know up front if they pay for tarping. Ask how much their newest driver makes bring home. This should give you an idea of what you will be making. If I were you, I'd call McElroy out of Cuba, Al. They are closer and have a pretty good reputation.

And don't forget about Shelton in Florida.
TMC always looks good. I remember reading an article about their new driver facilities in Iowa. Supposed to be like a vacation wonderland.
I haven't seen any Pete 387's, though. Seems like they used to use T600's, but now I'm seeing Freightliner MidRoofs.

TMC is the J.B.Hunt of the flatbed world. You can start out there, and get some experience, but they have a lot of "funny ways" to deal with. And don't even think about putting anything like an antenna or anything else on the truck that has not been company approved.
Their attitude toward tarping a load is a bit silly too. If I get a load of rusty old scrap metal, I'm not going to tarp it, plain and simple. TMC would have you tarp it. That's a bit silly to me.
Other than that, you can do OK driving for them.

Like wearing a uniform & getting haircuts regularly?
About the only thing they don't do (from what I've had their drivers tell me), is tell you how many times a day you can stop to use the facilities. :yikes: :wtf:
One good thing I can say about them is, their trucks & trailers are always clean. :wow:
***Note*** I have never worked for or applied to them.

About the best thing I can say about TMC is that is you really want to learn flatbedding they are a good place to learn. By the time you are done with the training program you can load and tarp about anything and everything.

The next time you see a TMC truck, look real close at it.
You will notice that they ALL have to hang chains on the rack in a certain way. NO EXCEPTIONS,
All trucks look the same.
Don't even think about being different.
Yes, clean trucks,
They HAVE to wash them on a schedule.
Do not even think of going into the yard dirty.
From what I hear it is about average turnover for the industry.

Come to think of it, you're 100% CORRECT!
Not a chain, not a tarp........not even a bungee cord outta place. :yikes: :wtf:
They have Pete 387's, 379's and a lot of Freightliner Century & Columbia mid-roofs also.
