Especially if there were no drugs in the house. :wow:

Atlanta police gun down woman, 92, who shot them

ATLANTA — A 92-year-old woman was shot to death Tuesday after she fired at three narcotics officers trying to serve a warrant at her house, officials said.

Neighbors and relatives said it must have been a case of mistaken identity. Police said they had the right address.

Police said the woman, identified as Kathryn Johnson, was the only person home at the time, and had lived there for about 17 years.

As the plainclothes Atlanta police officers approached the house about 7 p.m., a woman inside started shooting, striking each of them, said Officer Joe Cobb, a police spokesman.

Assistant Chief Alan Dreher said the officers had a legal warrant and "knocked and announced" before they forced open the door. He said they were justified in returning fire when they were fired upon.

One was hit in the arm, another in a thigh and the third in a shoulder. The officers were taken to a hospital for treatment, and all three were conscious and alert, police said.

Sarah Dozier, identified as a niece of the woman, told WAGA-TV that there never were any drugs at the house.

"My aunt was in good health. I'm sure she panicked when they kicked that door down," Dozier said. "There was no reason they had to go in there and shoot her down like a dog."

Hell, they shouldn't have shot her, but hired her as a weapons instructor. Think about it, she hit all 3 guys breaking into her house. Pretty cool old girl, I'd say. May she RIP. BTW, if there is NO evidence of drug trafficking, then the shiat ought to hit the fan.

The GA cops never think before they shoot. I have had a run in with them a couple of yrs ago. Pulled me out of the trk. Tried to give me a hard time. The sr cop had such an ego it was wild. I understand their lives are @ stake, but I was sitting in my trk @ the wheel looking @ my map. Aholes.

That sucks to hear that. I hope justice is served whether they are guilty or not. I like to go on search warants, but they are dangerous as hell. You have to defend yourself whether they are armed or not. The only reason I think this made the news is because she was 92 y/o.

Problem is that to many cops want to be like those on tv. I feel that too many times, the knock is followed imediatly by blasting down the door. Matter of fact, a friend of mine had a bad search warrent served on him, and the cops broke down his garage door after he told them he would unlock it. The new breed of cops could care less about personal liberties. They say they are in danger when they execute a warrent; I say to bad, that's your job. If you don't like it, find something else. Those cops will probably get away with murdering an innocent woman.

Rockjockey, I agree it is dangerous to serve a search warrant. We do what we do to lower the risks of ANYONE getting hurt. You heard one side of the story when someone told you they would unlock a garage. I don't know if it happened or not, but I don't think it did.

To an extent I think the ones on COPS may be "acting" a little, but all I know is that I do what I do to make sure I go home at night.

That has to be the most incorrect statement of the year. Back in the day when you lipped off to a cop you got your azz handed to you. You can't even look at someone wrong anymore with out them complaining on you. I hear the older guys I work with talking about "the good ol' days" when you could give some piece of sh1t the azz whoopin his parents should have. Not anymore, which isn't all bad, but alot need it.

I wasn't just thinking of a cop being able to beat the crap out of anyone they please, although it doesn't suprise me that cops lament the loss of that ability. I was thinking more of the roadblocks, making people wait for a drug sniffing dog type of stuff. This was all thought up by the new breed of cops, and backed by liberal courts that have no regard for the 4th ammendment. I have had enough brushes with these Nazi type cops to know they care not one bit about abusing rights without even touching a person. The one police roadblock I went through was stocked with cops more intent on showing how powerful they were than actually doing what they were there for. Don't know about where you live, but that is the way it is around here.

I've been dealing with police officers for 30 years. Most are professional and as curteous as we let them be. I've been arrested, so to speak 7 times in il. an ky. for driving on a suspended d.l. an never spent more than an hour at the scale until an officer could make an apperance to determine whether to take me to "jail" or let me go.Each time showing proof of payment for the ticket in Question and behaving myself I drove out of the scale.
There are some Barney's out there with there one bullet an a big case of "badgeitous" thats the ones I really give no respect for I have NO use for them as human beings or as officers of the court. I just asnwer thier q's an get away from them asap.
Treat people the way you wish to be treated an most of the time it comes back the same..
"Cops" have a very important job to do an ya gotta respect that in itself. All I really ask of them is don't forget the constitution of the United States of America.

Most cops are glorified ticket writers that won't even stop to find out if someone on the side of the road needs help. Wouldn't be able to make their ticket quota if they actually adhered to the 'serve and protect' thing that has long been discarded.

sounds like the old lady started shooting before the cops even got inside her house! She deserved to be shot, for shooting at all 3 cops, what did she expect to happen? she was gonna kill all 3 cops or what??

her own gun ended up getting her killed.

I really don;t like cops to much either, they always sit around in my small town and harass people for minor traffic things, instead of going after real crimes.

I have been stopped at least 4 times cuz these moron cops think i am drunk, and all the real drunks i know, never get pulled over.
Seems the cops aren't doing too good of job.

You would be amazed at what you can get for a tag light, speeding, stop sign, etc...

I have got more drugs, criminals with warrants, and you name it off that.
