I had an opportunity to get an OD load from Baltimore to Salt Lake City today. Alas, I was unable to do it.
I called the permit service that I use and they informed me that I needed to get some special stuff done in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana. So there may not have been time to do it all before the weekend.
However, it turned out to be a moot point. When I called Ohio, they informed me that even if I did everything I needed to and applied for the permit, their holiday curfew was going into effect at noon Friday until noon on the 31st.
That meant lots of out-of-route miles, the customer was unwilling to pay.
On the other hand, when I told 'em I wanted the load at the price, they forget to inform me that it was an O/D load. So it really wasn't worth it, anyway.
