NASCAR Driver Says Female Phenom Has Unfair Edge
R. Gordon Says Patrick Can Go Faster Because of Her Weight
(May 28) - Robby Gordon accused Danica Patrick of having an unfair advantage in the Indianapolis 500 and said Saturday he will not compete in the race again unless the field is equalized.
Gordon, a former open-wheel driver now in NASCAR, contends that Patrick is at an advantage over the rest of the competitors because she only weighs 100 pounds. Because all the cars weigh the same, Patrick's is lighter on the race track.
"The lighter the car, the faster it goes," Gordon said. "Do the math. Put her in the car at her weight, then put me or Tony Stewart in the car at 200 pounds and our car is at least 100 pounds heavier.
"I won't race against her until the IRL does something to take that advantage away."

Well they have strict regulations about the weight of the car so that way I can understand his point because the lighter the car is the faster it really is, but on the other hand he does cry like a baby

Well it is unfair. The car should be weighed with the driver in it. Or i guess the race teams could get smaller male drivers.

It's because of a female period!
When my stepmom raced for 5 years she was shuned like Danika. My stepmom was a awesome competitor. She won a few and at the end of the season she always finished 2nd or 1st in point standings in the Thumper and Road Runner division.
Guys were always trying to knock her out of the race. She flipped it once and dang near totaled the car. Me and my father fixed it up nicely and the next weekend she was back out there. She finished first in both heats. They said the same thing about the weight on her car.
Seemed to me, she is and was 5'9 back then and weighed around 130 lbs. My dad put some extra weight in it and judges couldn't say squat.
I say, carry on Danika! Make that baby rumble down the straight away. Now I'm in the mood for some awesome racing. Who wants to join me at 81 Speedway in Wichita this weekend?
Poor whiney boys! They can't stand losing to a girl! http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/contrib/lilly/hmm3grin2orange.gif

With all that horsepower in play at those speeds, do you think 100 lbs. really makes that much difference? I mean, it's got to be a small fraction of a percent of the total weight.
