I got a DWI three years ago and I am having trouble finding a job. The DWI was in a commercial vehicle so it shows up on my DAC report. Are there any companies that don't run DAC reports????

It's not gonna matter which company you go to they
will find out about your DWI either thru DAC
or your MVR.

And because of your DWI in a CMV you are
going to be considered a high risk by the insurance
companies.

Look for employment that does not involve DRIVING, most companys want 5 years, some 7 or 10 and others Never with a DWI on your record.

1 question here, why would a person who wants to drive for a living be so irresponsible to even get a DWI?? You have to think and grow up before someone will hand you the keys to $100,000 truck. :wtf:

Yeah I do realize that I made a bad mistake, If I could change one thing in my life that would be it. I thought you guys might know of an outlaw company somewhere or a person that owns 2-3 trucks that doesn't run a dac report. The weird thing about it is that it shows up on my mvr as a dwi and on my dac report as a dwi in a cmv.

So if you find a company that doesn't care about a dui what do you think they will be like? I know a few companys that will take a driver as soon as they get their license back. Of course they have to hope they get paychecks ect.

I just saw your other post, go back and read what white dog had to say.......you will get slammed and be put down here over this subject, just listen to the ones that are not bustin your balls in a stupid manner..ALL truck boards will give you bad replys, it is just truckers knowin how serious your choice to drink 4 beers and bobtail back...you know it is wrong to even have a sip of beer and drive one of them trucks...

this happen 3 years ago, why have you only been sober for 22 months then? Did you not think it was a problem when you got caught or was it when you tried to get a job??

I know in florida you MUST carry sr-22 insurance for 3 years minimum and it aint cheap..No commercial driving whatso ever either..

I said this before, Prime, Inc will take you after 3 years...

How old are you anyways?

Good luck finding a job with a DWI! I know a guy who was an experienced driver who thought it would be okay to have one drink and got pulled over for a routine check and lost his job with no chance for appeal, no argument, no bargaining. If I'm not mistaken, this guy to this day still hasn't a hope to drive for anyone. Last look, he flips burgers for a living.

Sorry to bring you down Robbie, but it's your choice you made to get behind the wheel of a big rig while intoxicated. Yet I will wish you luck in finding a job and as well keeping yourself sober.

BTW, I've been sober 2 years now (knock on wood). Have you thought about attending AA meetings?

What?

Why do you think we would assist an irresponsible individual with a DWI find an irresponsible company to work for?

I know a lot of people who disparage the members of the truck forum, but, get a clue.

They AIN'T stupid.

I should have prefaced my remarks with this disclaimer.

I am a practicing alcoholic.
I had 16 years of sobriety.
Been drinking again for four years.

However, I never, never, never drink when I am going to drive.
Or, I never, never, never drive if I've been drinking.

I insist upon a MINIMUM 12 hour lapse between my last beer/drink before I release the brakes.

Always, each time, everytime, without fail, no other way, Jose.

;) I am the same way! If I know I will be driving, I WILL NOT HAVE ANY ALCOHOL!! Nor will I drive if I've had even one sip!

12 hours seems like alot of overkill.
two different times i have had to do a breathalyser test after leaving a bar, both times i had about 2 beers over 2 or 3 hours, and both times i blew ZERO
so alcohol doesn't stay in your system that long.

cops around here are d1cks and will pull anyone over just cuz they were at a bar. both times i got stopped, how many real drunks got away??
makes u wonder.
i think its funny all the games the cops play, they will see me walking to my vehicle, then the cops will drive away, (hoping i think they are leaving, and i would drive away, and they would stop me), so i just sit and wait, then they always come right back and i am still sitting there, then i will drive right past them, and usually if i act brave enough, they won't bother me, i guess they assume someone whos really drunk wouldn't drive right past a cop on purpose.

They play games, so i play games too. haha
just p1sses me off, i am not doing anything illegal, and those d1cks still pull me over and hassle me.

so i have learned if i play the game right, i don't get bothered.

I agree with Reed- I like to enjoy a few drinks but I will only do so if I know for sure I'm not going to be driving anywhere within 10- 12 hours.

Nothing wrong with enjoying a few drinks- as long as you use your head & NEVER do anything that could jeopardize the well-being of others, let alone yourself. If I'm out with friends & there's no sober designated driver available I will eat a tow bill to get me & my vehicle home safely before I subject myself to the possible lifelong consequences of a DWI or worse yet- hurting or killing anyone else due to my own negligence.

I hate to be negative towards you. But I have been bothered by your post since I first saw it.

I personally don't want to see you on the road in a car let alone a big truck. I think you lost the right to drive when you got the DUI. The insurance companies probably will not allow you to drive for any reputable carriers

In my career as a Firefighter/Paramedic I saw too many drunks kill, maim, or injure to many good people who did nothing except being on the road with a drunk coming at them. And, in most cases the drunk walked away with no, or minor, injuries

Driving drunk is, in my opinion, attempted murder, with the victim yet to be determined.

Go get a non driving job, one that you can walk or bike to, and stay off the roads.

I must agree whole-heartedly with what wombat said. To get behind the wheel of ANY vehicle, especially a truck that weighs probably like 30,000 pounds empty (? :noclue: never weighed one) is pure stupidity! I seriously doubt you'll find some "outlaw" company, and if you do, they will probably ask you to break the rules, and their equipment would be really shoddy and unsafe to drive as well.

I know there are some companys that will still hire people with DWI's.

Even one of the local school bus companys hired a guy with a DWI in his past, and then he got another one driving the bus!

I also know of some dumptruck and snowplowing companys that will hire guys with DWI's

so all you gotta do is look hard.

Hopefully this guy learned his lesson. i don;t think he should never get a driving job again because 3 years ago he made a mistake.

We don;t have DAC in canada, so once 3 years pass, at least here in ontario, the DWI should disappear and trucking companys probably wouldn't even know you ever had one.

I believe, the dui stays on your licence, here in the UK, for 10 years and most of the big companies won't touch you with a barge pole

A DWI is bad enough, a DWI in a CMV is often a death sentence to a driver's career.

Just so everyone is aware:

1st conviction of a DWI in a CMV or in a private vehicle for a CDL holder is a 1 year suspension
1st Conviction while hauling haz mat is a 3 year suspension
For a 2nd DWI conviction in any vehicle for a CDL holder for a DWI is a lifetime suspension.

Everyone should be well aware of the penalties for major and serious offenses as outlined by the FMCSA which are found in 383.51 (http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/administration/fmcsr/fmcsrruletext.asp?section=383.51)
