I have posted in many a thread that animals are replaceable and whatnot but let me tell ya, this sucks! I never realized the pain.......til now.

My bestest buddy, Buster, a twelve yo. Brittany Spaniel I rescued at 6 weeks old was just put to sleep this morning. He got parvo as a puppy, like 16-18 weeks and I couldn't let him go then w/o a fight so we saw to it that he be treated and he survived.

In the past couple weeks we had started to notice some tumor growths on his hind end in the gland area and the groomer said she thought they were getting bigger we should have him checked out. NOW! That was yesterday.

I did not go tot the vet with the wife this morning b/c I knew what the outcome was gonna be. He had a couple tumors that were gonna be expensive to remove, $250 a pop, and were going to come right back according to the vet and I was not willing to allow him to go through the procedure just to suffer longer or to get the family through the holidays.

At 0950 my beloved Buster went to doggy heaven. The kids are okay, the wife is okay but damn this sucks. I've had g/f's come and go an ex - wife with two step children go but my dog has always been there for me. Not no more.

R.I.P. Buster Boy.

I know the pain you speak of. About 7-8 years ago I lost both of the dogs I had within a couple months of each other.

Give it a little time and when you're ready, you'll find another friend. That's what I did and haven't regretted it once.

I think we've all been there a time or two and it is never easy when they've been a part of the family for so long. We all sympathize with you Towstrap.

I'm still holding on to my daughter's cat Dakota. He's getting slower these days.

Sorry to hear of your loss TS!

Brittany's are wonderful dogs! We got ours from a breeder. She was about 5 years old when we got her and after I saw how that breeder treated her, I was furious. She was a great dog, so are the English Springer Spaniels! We breed Springers, unfortunately when I divorced my ex, I had to part with my 2 springers (the mom and one of her pups) and my brittany! I do know they went to good homes, thank goodness. :D
