Interesting article, and they don't even begin to delve into issues for CDL holders...

For a lot of this, you can thank those idiots at MADD. They pressured the Feds into putting pressure on the states to lower the alcohol level. The states saw a new revenue stream, and now everyone is putting the screws to 'drunks', many of whom would have been let go in more reasonable times. But let's face it, it is only going to get worse. What politician is going to stick his neck out to protest the draconian laws?

The only safe move is to never drink one drop of alchol if you are going to drive. Even following this practice, I have been pulled over twice by overzealous cops trying to make a dui case. It is almost comical to see them trying to make an excuse as to why they pulled me over when they find out that I am on my way to work at 3am, not on the way back home from a night of drinking.

Do you mean the idiots, which many of whom have lost a loved to someone else's irresponsibility? Maybe they are just idiots that should shut up and press on, or try to do something so that it doesn't happen to anyone else. What a bunch of idiots. :wtf: :vmad:

Sounds good to me.

They had to have probable cause to stop you, maybe you shouldn't have given them that opportunity.

Tim................probable cause can be anything............an assumption that an inspection sticker or registration sticker is out of date.............."the driver did not appear old enough to drive",etc, etc, etc.

But now back to the point..................DUI/DWI is a serious matter and MADD's push to toughen up the laws is well justified and way too many years behind necessity.

Drunk driving kills and mames innocent people.................I for one would support a .04 legal limit for all drivers.

I indulge in an adult beverage from time to time but have seen first hand a horrific crash involving fatalities where alcohol was a contributing factor.

There will always be those that choose to ignore the law............thats a given............but we can as a society urge our lawmakers to "put the screws" to those that do and get caught.

I have pretty strong feeling's against drinking and driving

Yes, these are the idiots of whom I speak. Instead of pushing for actual punishment of those who abuse alcohol to extremely high limits and kill someone, they are basically trying to make it illegal to drink even one drink and drive. Why not get mandatory jail terms that mean something instead of going after the causual drinker? I see stories in the papers of people with .15 and higher bac killing people and they get 1- 5 yrs jail time, time off for good behavior. some only get probation. Repeat offenders get the same. Those people are the problem, not someone who blows a .08-.1. All that federally mandated reduction did was make it a revenue productive crime for local governments and lawyers(who go on to become judges; go figure  ). It did not make the roads any safer, because the guy who used to have one or two drinks after work was never the problem anyway.

If I was drunk, they could have made up probable cause. Since I wasn't, they made dumb excuses. If there was probable cause, I would have gotten a ticket, wouldn't I?
