How bout it gang??
Got any members here with some musical talent?? Do you still remember how to play that clarinet or trumpet from High School???
For me, I started playing guitar when I was around 12. Took lessons for awhile, got bored with it, went back to it and took some more advanced lessons when I was 16; and I play whenever I get the chance, more now to keep my hands loosened up after the carpel tunnel surgery last spring.
In 1971 I bought a non pedal twin neck steel guitar from a woman whose husband had passed away. He was a well known local musician who played with alot of Western Swing bands in the 40's and 50's. I was able to find a gentleman who taught me the basics to get going on it. By 1974 I was playing with a local group on the weekends. The lead singers name was Homer Joy. Homer wrote the song "Streets of Bakersfield" that Dwight Yokum made popular in the early 90's.
I try to sit down and play on the steel when I can, but it and the other guitars I have dont see the use that they deserve for sure....... ;)
My daughters both play the piano and the youngest one plays guitar also. My oldest son is a sax player and stays with it, and the younger son played piano and trombone at one point in his life, now he concentrates on girls, motorcyles, and his pickup truck..........
