Well here goes
Since the last time i posted a mail i received 21 responses, And for the majority all were positive with info that helps. My topic was "Van versus Flatbed",and which pays more. The reason i am confused is that the Website CarrierDepot.Com posts an index price , and a added fuel surcharge price For each trip which were equal in mileage, and both were very close to each other in pay to the truck for van and flatbed.
I realize that nothing is perfect, And that the business is uncertain in terms of what is the best so i feel it must be an individual decision on what he or she wants to do. (Boy this is a long speech) but before i make the decision to become an independent i must ask the questions and there is no other source,But the people who do it everyday. I have 7 years on and off in the trucking business which includes van and flatbed, But things have really changed in the business and for the past two years i have attempted to learn and keep up.
I am presently doing a peacekeeping mission In Mitovica Kosovo teaching The new Kosovo Police Service under the U.N., This will get response. I am a retired police officer who enjoys the trucking business, And what the business means to America. Now i will get off the soap box and get to my Questions.
Where do i get info on flatbedding. REF: load securement, Explanation on loading, spread axles, And traditional tarping versus the new tarping ststems. Yea i know i am asking a lot but i want to learn as much as possible before i return home. Thanks for your efforts and be safe.
