Heard this recently on tv: As a woman starts into her 40's she should start preparing for menopause: It maybe the kit you give your lady friends when they start 'flashes'.
Tweezers.....for plucking those ocassional wild chin hairs
Magnifying glass and/or reading glasses, for when the eyes no longer focus up close and your arms aren't long enough.
Personal lubricant .......for those dry, personal and intimate moments.
Moisturizing bath washes and shampoos and skin lotions to combat dry skin and flakiness.
Calcium suppliments, unless you tolerate and will drink milk: 1200-1500mg daily.
Clothes, particularly athletic undergarments which are made to cool and wick moisture away from the body. Dress in layers so that jackets or sweaters may be removed or added as the day progresses.
Sex: Don't avoid it but keep it monogomous or practice 'safe sex'. If you don't use it you may lose it. :yikes: And yes, one may become pregnant even though the periods have ceased. Menopause is not considered to be complete until a year has passed without menstruration. And, yes, pap smears and breast exams are as important as ever.
For hot flashes: Keep a diet diary and notice with different foods if it makes a difference. Not all are food sensitive, but for those that are, this can help make a difference.
I thought it was interesting: Oh the joy of getting older! :p
