Since we're always looking for ways to improve TruckStopUSA, is there anything that you'd like to see or have changed to make TSU better?

Post your ideas or suggestions.

Less whining, more knitting. :harhar:

Personally, I like it the way it is set up. But I don't speak for everyone.

Remember, it doesn't have to be "all knitting, all the time". :p

PLease Big Dave,

Do not let her ( BA ) talk for everyone ;)

I see no problems the way you have things...sometimes change can be a bad thing???

I think an ignore feature would be wonderful, so those who want to ignore me can just turn it on, rather than getting up on their soapbox to make a "high and mighty" announcement every time they don't like my opinion on a subject.

Forum consolidation. It is too fragmented as it is and too much whining about segregating topics. This way you would not need more moderators than posters either.

Well Lars, not all of us want to see Political posts all the time. (See, if you post in the Political forum, I don't have to even look in there if I'm not in the mood to deal with the issues)

I think TSUSA is just fine the way it is.

Besides, I think I warrant my own forum, thankyouverymuch.

Yes, my lady, we have seen your obsession with being a forum police and your inability to skip topics that you do not want to participate in. But there are other forums with very little posting and the current system is just copying what has become a failed system.

With more consolidated forums, more people can see what is being discussed and participate in those topics that interest them. Of course, you would have to find something else to whine about, so your position is understandable.

Whats wrong Lars?

You aren't butt hurt are you?

You know, I did have some respect for you, but as time goes by, I have less and less. The reason is, from what I've seen, you can not one whit for anyone elses feelings. You believe your opinion is the only opinion that counts, and when someone voices an opinion that does not agree with yours, you start bashing them, as you just did with me.

You can gain my respect or lose it, I'm sure you don't care either way, neither do I.

Why do you feel that your respect is important to everyone here? :wtf:

Pot calling the kettle black.

That statement describes your forum policing activities perfectly.

Since I did not view my political opinions in any of them, only requested that they were moved to the political forum, along with a post I made that I didn't feel was political, I tend to disagree, but you are entitled to your opinion. I've never said others opinions didn't count.

Forum consolidation. It is too fragmented as it is and too much whining about segregating topics. This way you would not need more moderators than posters either.

We tried that once before and all we got was complaints. It looks like the majority want as many forums as possible to ignore. ;)

Lars
02-28-2007, 06:08 AM
The key there, Uturn, would be how many complainers and how many did not. It is easy to set a quota for a specific forum and if there are not a set number of posts in a certain time frame, just get rid of it and let those topics be handled on the main forum.

You should know about now that there is a minority here that will complain no matter what you do. I would suggest that you ignore them. Everybody has the choice to read what interests them and opinionate on it and ignore everything else.

Of course, there are those who will comment even when they have noting to contribute, but you will never get rid of that, but again, it can be ignored.

BlueAngel
02-28-2007, 07:19 AM
I hate to say it, but Lars is right. :yikes:

There is nothing wrong with the way this site or the forums are set up. The only problems existing are the result of user stupidity and bad attitudes. Nothing much you can do about that.

White Dog
02-28-2007, 08:27 AM
It looks like the majority want as many forums as possible to ignore. Exactally! Leave things alone. Who cares if a few forums are not as well traveled as others.

If I want to hear "specific" topics I will search out that forum.

Things are working well as they are as far as I can tell.

I've got to agree with the Birthday boy on this one. After all, he's now old enough to offer sagely advice. :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

I think things are fine just the way they are. So why change them? Tinkering with a good thing only causes problems in the end.

Magicman: Happy with the staus quo.

Is there a way to map truck stops????....may be something that shows the US....click on a state ....and it brings a road map with dots or something that designates a truckstop...be able to click on the dot and see what it is....with an option for members to add opinions...I use the truckstop link on the front page pretty regular...but it just links to the big guys and one at a time...when we plan the trip we have a good idea were we are going to stop....but it comes the times when you have to make unplaned stops....and or emergency stops...or a storm comes up and your not going to make it to the planned stop and you need to find a safe haven quickly....what do ya'll think???...and is it possible???...this way may be we can show the Mom and Pop places that are decent to stop at....

Lars
02-28-2007, 06:42 PM
That is a very good idea, McGee. If you set it up as wikipedia, posters can add their impressions of the places.

I think you need to remind the mods of their position, specifically not to abuse that position. When a mod rants and raves, they do not belong in a mod position. Re-opening a thread to rant and rave, or editorialize shows even worse judgement. The ones policing name calling and other rules should not be breaking the same rules they are enforcing.

BlueAngel

And somebody let me know which threads I'm allowed to respond to since apparently I'm not allowed to respond to every thread in a public forum.

Oops, I responded to a thread. I guess that's just me not being able to ignore any situation. I guess I just have to have an opinion on everything in a public forum.

It is called obsessive-compulsive disorder and in this case, only abstinence will cure it.

Oh, now I have a disorder for posting in a public forum.

I liked the individual forums. Since I don’t really have time to mess around as much as I did, the separate forums saved a good bit of time finding and giving information on subjects I found interesting. Now I don’t have anywhere near the time I did before and find myself here less and less as it takes more time to dig through topics I have no need for, (like how to keep your trailer motor running- Pulling flat & step, this is a foreign concept.) to get to what I am looking for.

I have a suggestion that may or may not work; Howz ‘bout putting a tag (standard term) or something into a topic that would make the search feature work a little better? As it is now, just about anything I have used this function for has returned 100+ results even after narrowing the search terms down as specific as I could think of. I’m not sure if this is a problem that I have had alone or even if it has since been fixed, but I had simply given up trying to use it.

Now that I am thinking about it, it won’t take long for the same problem to come up again even using a tag. However, you have to start somewhere.
