I was reading today, that Audible Inc. and XM Satellite Radio will co-launch a new portable device capable of playing XM's satellite radio, and content from Audible. Audible is a seller of downloadable audio versions of books, newspapers and other printed matter.

The handheld devices will be able to receive XM's radio channels, as well as store Audible's audio programs which can be downloaded from the Internet.

After reading this, I found that both stock for XM radio and Audible went up a little. XM is now at about $33 a share, and Audible is moving up slightly to almost $19 a share.

XM and Audible will each feature the other company's content on their Web sites. Users can download popular XM talk programs onto the new devices, on Audible's Web site. Audible's 70,000 hours of spoken-word programming will be available on the XM Web site via a co-branded online store. The new handheld devices will be marketed under the "AudibleReady/XM" name

I myself am keeping an eye on Sirius Satellite Radio, to see what happens when Howard Stern starts his show there. Either way you look at it, the market for satellite radio is picking up, not going down. Being a listener of talk radio, it means a lot to me which shows are carried, and being able to hear the whole show form beginning to end. Other than that, I listen to my own items when I want to listen to music, by plugging my MP3 player into the stereo's auxiliary input.

You're right on the money with that statement.

3 years ago when I got my XM, they didn't even have 1 million subscribers yet.

Last week they were announcing that they have over 4 million now. :yikes:
