...and I mean really miss it.
I miss those days so bad some times.
I don't think there has been a time or place in my lifetime that I've fit in so well...or loved my job so much.

I got out 36 years ago and I still miss it. I enjoyed most of it even though I was stationed a few places that I really didn't care for.
Wonder if they have any openings for a 65 year old man with bad knees? :p

I will always miss the smell of JP-4 and the roar of afterburners ;)

I miss being in our Aerial Delivery flight at Pope AFB. We had it made there. 1.5 hour lunches, being on our own on the dropzones, and just being away from the brass was awesome. I would do 30 years if I was guaranteed to stay there. It would be better if it wasn't in Fayetteville, NC, but you can't have it all.

Ft. Knox wasn't too bad for permenant party duty station. I spent considerable time there after I got out of school.
I was in the 3rd Battalion 3rd Field Artillery 194th Armored Brigade. Until they deactivated it, the 194th Armored Brigade was the largest 'separate' brigade in the army and was bigger than most Divisions.
One bad thing about that area was, unless you went to Louisville, there wasn't much to do off post when not on duty.

not much has changed dave, I was permanant party in a scout training unit for eight months until they saw fit to discharge me for injuries suffered in the desert war. Married houseing dates back to pre vietnam era, batchelor(sp?) are cold war era, and the trainees we had in osut was "new" dating back to the early ninties with new boot barracks being constructed at the same time they were announcing that no more training at knox after 2008. typical army post.
