Being there's a nationwide epedimic of very few places to park a truck at night any more, I thought I'd share some advice to help others deal with that problem easier.
Depending on when your pick ups and deliveries are scheduled, it's advisable to try to begin & end your day early whenever possible. Here's why:
If you are asleep in a truck stop parking lot and wake up at 4:00 AM, you'll probably notice that there's no lines for taking a shower, or to fuel. You guessed it! Grab the shower bag & clothes, head inside, and get freshened up! Fuel up just before you leave if you're at a company-designated fuel stop. You may be rolling before 5:15 AM if you manage your time well.
Try to avoid stopping any more than necessary throughout the day other than for two short breaks and making pick ups and deliveries. This will save you a lot of time.
3:00 PM will be rolling around, and if possible, that may be the best time to start looking for a safe & legal place to park. Within a few hours after that time, most other drivers may be jockeying around to find what few parking places are left.
You will see that you have a few hours to get out of the truck and go for a walk & get in some other exercise before calling it a day and going to bed.
