Now I know which truck to look for in the Chicago area when I want to flip someone off!

Go for it, if it makes you feel better. I'll just be pointing and laughing anyways.

Rookie rods? :harhar:

What's the length of that dump box? The 1 end dump we have is 24' with 4 axles (2 of them are liftable pusher axles).

Hey now! The rookie rods are for hanging the oversize load banner from when I need it for the lowboy. :p

That is a 22' trailer.

We can only gross 72k legally. The bridge law is 68k, but for $125 a year IL sells a SHV permit so we can go 72k. With this tractor and trailer, I can haul 22 1/2 ton. (legally)

It is hard to believe that this Pete is 1200 # lighter than the Superdog. :yikes:

That 72K & 68K bridge.......is that due to the length of the trailer and axle spacing?

Yes, the Fed bridge law, which IL uses also only allows 68k with those spacings.

Interesting. Thanks.

The belly dump trailers that we have are tri-axles. MN allows 81K gross weight. The 3rd axle on these bellys are so we can legally haul on 8&9 ton roads. Most township roads are 8 ton.

There are companies here that use belly dumps and 38' trailers and gross out at 80k, but they are used mostly for yard hauls, and over state routes mostly as the 73,280 is all that is allowed on non designated roads. The standard is the 22-24' trailer. We use these for just about everything, and 10 wheelers for tight stuff.

In WI, they use the Tri/ Quad axles for what we do with the semis.

Our bellys are 34' long.

One of the companies we do a lot of work for uses the hell outta quads. Mostly for local in-town (residential and downtown) hauls, inter-facility (quarry-to-quarry), culvert (riprap) and demo work.

With the belly that I drag, I can legally haul just a shade over 24 tons (tare weight is 32,500 lbs). The quads can haul right at 20 tons from what I've been told.
