It was a picture perfect day today. Just a few clouds in the sky, temps in the mid 70's for most of the day, and since the wife had the day off and I am finally feeling better we decided to load up the kid and go to Decatur and visit the children's zoo they have there.

This is the first time Bubbers has been to a zoo and the kid had so much fun he did not want it to end. He cried when it was time for us to leave. In addition to seeing all the animals he got to ride a carousel for the first time and we also took a ride on the train they have at the zoo. While he loved seeing all the different animals, which he did a good job repeating their names (especially for a kid who is not quite 2 yet) his favorite part was the children's petting zoo area. They had several pygmy goats running around and if he could have taken one home he would have.

We spent 2 hours there, which allowed us to take our time and see all of the animals and visits the goats twice. This was our first time at this particular zoo too and we were very impressed with how kid friendly the place is and it was just the right size to allow even small children to walk the entire complex but big enough to have a decent assortment of animals.

A couple of years ago we took all the grandkids to the Dallas Zoo and had a blast.

One particular moment that will always stand out in my memory was as we were walking toward the chimpanzee exibit............Brennain was about three at the time and took off down the path in front of us and rounded the corner.Somewhat out of sight, it was what seemed like a millisecond and here he came running back with his arms outstretched and a look of sheer terror on his face...............As we rounded the corner we all saw what he had seen.

A lifesize bronze statue of a big grinning chimp.Obvously Brennain when he happened upon it..............thought it was real and his little feet could'nt put it in reverse fast enough.

I only wish I could of captured that moment on video cuz aside from be hysterically funny I know I could have won some cash on America's Funniest Videos.

Looks like Bubbers had a real fun day. Now you're making me feel guilty that I haven't taken girlfriend to the big zoo in Philly yet.
