After almost 23yrs, my wife is apt to comment, after 4-5 days at home, "Isn't it time for you to go to work, or something?". It definitly takes a special kind of lady, to tolerate her spouse being gone most of the time.
What worked for us, was I encouraged her to be as independent as possible. That does tend to make things a little rocky on extended stays at home. But, she tends to handle the crisis times better when I'm not there, except at the other end of the phone.

I call home just about every night at 8:30 pm, unless I've had a long hard day and am sleeping.

We talk of problems that arise and what to do about them.

How come my pickup or lawn mower never breaks when I'm home? :wtf: :yikes:

Dave, The reason they never tear up when your home, is because the kids don't need to borrow them until you leave!

you would prefer them to break while at home? hmmm, I could think of better things to do while home... yeah ok, I know your the one mechanically inclined, and you can't be there to fix it... I gotcha...

As a truckers wife.... being home.

I remember when he first started trucking, I thought there is NO WAY I'm going to survive being along taking care of everything. :yikes: I cried every time he left. I just couldn't believe he could leave me here alone.

We have had our ups and downs through this trucking life. But in the end I wouldn't have it any other way.

I enjoy being able to ride with him at times. That helps to let me know what he does on the road. (for the most part) :)

I enjoy his time home and now I enjoy it when he goes. Then it is MY TIME.

I have learned to do lots on my own time, you have to do it yourself or wait for him to come home, well somethings can't wait!

I cherish the time with him when he is home. :lover:

So all in all..... 'I'm a survivor'
