Um!

What does that have to do with refrigerated trailers?

I'd crop cut that out, but now you have me interested.

They also gas bananas to "yellow" them just before delivery. Usually done at the warehouse just before they go on the delivery truck. I dont remember what kind of gas is used. (seen it done a long time ago)

I put a plastic garbage bag over one of my tomato plants and injected ethylene gas into it. The green tomatoes turned red but the plant died.

Oh well at least I had a red tomato before my neighbors did!!!
It's all about bragging rights!

They use Ethylene gas to ripen tomatoes. When I haul "fresh" flowers they put Ethyel block in the trailer to slow down the riping. Fresh means pick and pack in Columbia, ship by air to Miami, picked up by flower company to their warehouse, picked up by carrier and on the truck for two or three days to another warehouse and then out to shops to be sold. FRESH!

See I learn something new everyday! I'm glad you all have a brain and I can learn.

I never pulled fresh produce or flowers so now I know.

I hauled a load of flowers before and when I opened the doors at the dock to unload, this HUGE Snake was looking eye to eye at me.

I have hauled flowers since then but have NOT opened the doors first!
it still gives me the creeps :yikes:

Firefox, I drive for Warren Pearce Truck Brokers in Haines City, Fl. We are a small fleet with 36 '05 and '06 KW t-600's and matching 50' Utility trailers with the TK SB210 reefers. Nicest reefer unit I have ever pulled. Push abutton to turn it on set the setpoint and it does everything else! :D

They put apples with bananas to turn the nanners from green to yellow.

They also use a gas (can't remember the name) to rippen bananas. When I deliver them they go right into a temp contolled gas room, just like 'maters. They really should call gas room 'maters by their real name. Red golf balls!
