After All the forums posts blogs etc. have read in the last few months I still really want to try OTR But I must say there are so many negitives and horror stories out there its a bit intimedating.

So I was wondering if there are any reliable ways to record Qualcom msgs. record phone msgs etc. just to keep an employer honest.

Maybie I am just paranoid but never hurts to CYA.

I also canot seem to figure out how to copy my text to the spell checker so sry for all the errors my spelling SuX RoX.

Thanx for all the time and effort you guys have devoted to the forums both in creating them and posting responces it is a very valuable resource.

Micro cassette recorder called 'Dispatch Buster' will help you. Just make sure that you let the person on the other end know that you're recording the conversation.

If you have a laptop with wireless access, try to get dispatch to email you. You know, time off, days you NEED to be home, etc........

I've never dealt with QualCom, so I have no idea if or how long messages can be stored.

How long a msg is stored in the truck's QC unit depends on ho it is set up. Some will store up to 99 msgs while others are set up only to store the last 25 or 50, but even when the msg is deleted from the truck it is still in the system for something like 3 or 6 months.

If the company you work for has QC get them to send you everything, even verbal instructions over it. Most dispatchers do not have the authority to delete any msgs from the companies computers and it does help to cover your rear end.

UT, I was told that if they have a court order you can get any message ever sent thru QC. They store it forever. But, that ain't chiseled in stone. So don't quote me on it.....lol

That could very well be. I have heard so many versions, from so called "knowledable" people that I have no idea how long Quallcomm actually keeps copies of those msgs in storage, only that they do keep them for more than a few months.
