View Full Version : Ok people.... what are your hobbies?

July 11th, 2005, 14:33
Me personally,
I like to read. If I get ahold of a really good book, I can hardly put it down till the end.

I also sew. I make quilts and I go to quilting camp a couple times a year. I have one small quilt I need to make, and it has to be done in less than 2 weeks (yes, I need to get it started right quick!) I'm also making quilts for my two sons.
Besides quilts, I also make clothes for my daughter.

I like to shoot, especially .22. I enjoy target practice most, however, I also accompany my sons in the winter during hunting season. I don't really hunt anymore, I more go to watch over them and be the responsible adult, making sure they follow the rules and safety.
I like to go fishing but haven't done that for quite a long time either.

What does everyone like to do? Any hobbies??

Well the sea has always been close to my heart so boating and fishing are number uno for me! :lover:

Fishing is something that I do atleast once a week. I usually take a few friends with me and head for the sea just to have a good time. Itīs not that much about getting fish anymore, itīs mostly for the good time......

Boating again is something that I would like to do many times a week but unfortunently I donīt afford to pay $1000/week for fuel :yikes:
But whenever I do go boating I usually have a heck of a good time
I also have a jet ski in the boat so stopping out on the sea and playing with the jet si some time is also a lot of fun

Thatīs pretty much my hobbies...........oh, and work ofcourse :wtf: starts to look like a hobby allready.....

Lets see if I can remember what my hobbies are, since I posted them just before the "crash"!

A couple of weekends a month we go to and compete in Cutting Horse shows, spend alot of money to get there, loose money paying entry fees, then hopefully win a few bucks to buy the diesel to get back home......

Other than that my younger son and I ride dirt bikes, and go Elk hunting together in the fall, and we snowmobile some in the winter; I say "some" because I am usually working on them along the trail :vmad:

Well, because I can't drive big trucks anymore (medical), I've gone into collecting 1/64 scale models of trucks. I think my wife thinks I'm nuts, but I enjoy it and it can be addicting.

I also used to bowl competitively, sometimes on the PBA Regional Tour, but now I just follow my 13yo daughter around to all of her various youth leagues/scholarship tournaments. Trying to build up as much $$$$ for college for her as possible, she's got about $2200 built up so far.

In my past life i got addicted to the winter sport of downhill skiing. And i used to think it was foolish to attach two peices of wood/ styrofoam onto your feet, ride a chair lift a couple of thousand feet up the hill, and then attempt to slide down in a controlled manner.
One lesson was all it took,,,,,,,
I became addicted to the sport. Since i worked in the industry for 15 years, i was able to ski over 100 days a year,,, and i wasn't eeven a primadonna ski instructor. My job was the most importanat one,,, i was a relief supervisor of a chairlift crew . Not only did i have to have ski out at the lift with me, there were days i had to use a snowmobile to get out to my lift, first thing in the morning . then during the day i would get an hour to ski as much as possble, followed by the days off i was skiing somewhere.
I now don't get to ski as much, cause i'm out here on the road all the time. In the last 3 years i think i have a total of 15 days on the boards.
I do scarry the gear with me during the winter, cause one never knows where i will be spending a 34 hr break,, or a case of 'powder flu' hits me. It's a 24 hr bug that affect skiiers world wide, when there is a major dump of the white stuff. Colorado,Utah are hit the most by it. ;)
I still have many friends in the industry who trhow passes at me when ever i'm ready to go. And a few times i had to actually paid for a lift pass. :yikes: :D
So if there are anybody out there who shares the passion of skiing, and wants infor on skiing in Utah and the Lake Tahoe area, go ahead and drop me a line. My knowleged of Utah skiing is my specialtiy. And operations of a chair lift is my PHD.
Not only did i operate them, i also learned how to work on them, as well as i worked for a lift manufactor one summer , installing 4 lifts in the Deer Valley/ Park City, Utah area.

I DIDN'T HAVE A PARROT, BUT I HAD A BEO AND THAT BIRD DROVE ME NUTS.
BEO'S ARE IMMITATIONS ARTIST'S . THAT FUNNY BIRD CHASED ME TO THE PHONE OR TO THE DOOR, BECAUSE I THOUGHT THE PHONE WAS RINGING OR SOMEBODY RANG THE DOORBELL .
I HAD TO GET THE CAGE OUT OF THE ROOM WHEN I HAD VISITORS, SINCE I WASN'T HIS FIRST OWNER YOU NEVER KNEW WHAT THAT BIRD WAS SAYING.

AFTER HE STARTED BARKING LIKE A DOG , MY CAT GOT A HOLD OF HIM.
POOR BIRD. I STILL MISS HIM.

I have lots of hobbies, but I don't get to them much anymore (four year old). Photography is one, illustration is another. I actually have a picture of a big truck I've been working on for the past couple of months, but have something like writer's block and don't seem to want to get it finished.

I hope to sometime soon start getting my illustrations to a printer and start my own greeting card business. I even have a couple of local stores that will allow me to sell, I just need to get started....

Of course the hobby I seem to indulge in the most is clothes shopping. I'm
being good lately and have switched from cheap retail to upscale consignment shops.

I don't know if you can consider snuggling a hobby, but it should be. :lover:

Well lets see here, I love Late Model Racing on dirt tracks. I used to race a street stock on dirt and that was pretty fun. I like to go bass fishing and try and catch the big one if it takes all day, Im just fine with that. Poetry, country music, firearms, motorcycles, UFC, Toughman Fighting, tattooes, rottweilers, camping, boating, and the PBR are just some of my many interests, but the one thing I really care about in this God given world, is my beautiful soon to be wife. Shes the best thing that has happened to me and I wouldnt trade her for anything.
