Four of us went to the range this morning and set up in one of the larger outdoor bays and did some practice shooting (IPSC). Couple of weeks ago I ended up beating a local cop who thinks he is pretty hot stuff (http://www.truckstopusa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20607)
and he and his buddy were shooting at the next bay again. They came over and his buddy asked one of my friends if they could join in. He was told that they would have to speak to the Range Officer (me) and the first guy politely asked if he could shoot with us. I agreed and he ran through a couple of our courses and then , after getting beat by a 17 year old girl, asked me for some pointers. I showed him what he was doing wrong and corrected his stance, grip and explained proper sight picture and he improved greatly.
Mr. Noisy from before finally swallowed his pride and asked if he too could join in and his buddy beat him badly in the next run. He then decieded that maybe he needed some instruction also.
Have to give the guy credit for realizing that just maybe he might learn something and he improved quite a bit but still was not up to our standards.
I gave him a break and let him shoot my sons competition gun (twin to mine) and he could not believe the difference.
Both of these guys are new to our district and have just graduated from Regina (RCMP training) in the last year but now they have decieded that they want to shoot with us and they will both be coming over to the house next week , on one of their days off, and I will change a couple things in their guns to make them more reliable and more accurate.
All in all it was a great day and I managed to fire off 350 rounds of full house 45acp. My wrist will be sore tomorrow but it was worth it.
Oh yea 350 rounds with 339 in the A ring and 10 in the B --- had 1 miss dammit.
I may not be able to compete in national matches anymore but I can still put lead downrange.
Think we may have made a couple of friends also so I would say it was a great day
