I bought this car on June 9, 1988, a week after I graduated from high school. It had 9,100 miles on it.

original interior in excellent shape; no holes
now has 218,000 miles
still runs like it did when it was new!
NO RUST!!
still gets 30+ MPG!:harhar:

and of course the day I brought it home a seagull crapped in it!

I have owned several Cavaliers in my time, they honestly are a very good car.

The first one I owned had a 125,000 miles on it when I got rid of it.

The second one, was a standard transmission 4 door teal color, I loved that car. We ended up trading it in within about 1 1/2 years. We bought a camper and did alot of camping, so we upgraded to a Chevy conversion van. The last one I owned, I bought my car now and gave the Cavalier to my oldest daughter. Between her and her exboyfriend, they killed it at about 130,00 I think it was. We ended up selling it for $500, the body was still in awesome shape and the guy wanted to put a new motor in it.

I have never had any complaints with the Cavalier, I would have bought another if they would have kept making them.

Now I have my Impala and love that as well, with no complaints so far.

Looks good EA!!

There's nothing wrong with that car- or any other car that's paid for & still looks and runs good! Keep up the good work, Laurie!

Some people question why I still drive my old '95 Chevy pickup after all of these years- I could really care less what they think as I would much rather be defined as the individual person I am and not by what I drive.

With the cost of new or newer vehicles any more there is a lot to say about having one that is paid for, especially if it is not breaking the bank in repairs.

The last 3 vehicles that the wife and I have owned were bought for cash, and it will be a long time, if ever, that we buy another one on credit.

As far as Cavaliers go, once Chevy got the bugs worked out of them they turned into some really good cars. A former boss of mine had a 86 with 240,000+ on it with no major work. He was still driving it when I lost touch with him.

Know if you want to talk about a car that could haul azz......

I used to have a 1977 Chevy Monza 2+2. It had a 305 V8, 4bbl carb. Overall probably close the the size of your Cavalier. Ironically it was the Cavalier that replaced the Monza in Chevy's line up.

The V8 was really was too much power for that small and light of car. In the snow all you had to do was take your foot off the brake and you would start spinning.

yeah I remember the Monza- which replaced the Vega, which replaced the Corvair.

the '82 Cav was an embarrassment if I recall correctly. And then GM put Cadillac badges on it :o  the Cimarron was not one of Cadillac's better products!

The first body style of the Cavalier reminded me of an escape pod from some kind of space craft.

A good friend of mine had a Monza and we called it the Armadillo cuz that's what it looked like....lol But that darn thing was just like the Energizer Bunny, it kept going anfd going and going and going!!!!
I never had much luck with any Chevrolets. Maybe I just got lemons every time. I personally like Fords. I just like the older ones that are all mechanical. I can work on those. :D
