We all know some public restrooms are kept cleaner than others, but it seems the restrooms in some of the truck stops are about the most horrid places on earth!
Here's some advice on how to avoid the nasty stuff:
(1) Wipe the toilet seat first, then use a "J.B. Hunt cap" (A.K.A. Toilet Seat Cover!).
(2) Before sitting down to use the toilet, make sure there's a roll of "J.B. Hunt applications" in there (toilet paper), so you don't end up in a world of $chit http://roundtable.truck.net/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif !
(3)Since there's almost NEVER any soap in the bathrooms these days, do yourself a favor and carry individually-wrapped antibacterial wipes (Wet Ones makes 'em!;)).
(4) Due to the fact that some people are too lazy to wash their hands after using the restroom, ALWAYS avoid grabbing the handle to open the door on the way out! A paper towel works just fine for avoiding contact.
(5) In light of the last statement, avoid eating the buffet http://roundtable.truck.net/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif ! Do yourself a favor and order a fresh meal!

I've heard those before too, but I actually do try to show some "political correctness" once in awhile! ;)

When I have to park in a truckstop.................I park on the "back row"....................the only thing I go inside for is coffee or to buy a roll:eyes:;)

I agree. The almost nonexistent rest areas across I-80 in Nevada are not any better either.
My home state of Texas used to have horrible rest areas in comparison to other states, but in recent years they have been building very nice (albeit overkill) new ones and tearing down the old ones with their "vented-by-nature & get a free shower during a hard rain storm" restrooms.
Louisiana has very few rest areas left any more (they closed & tore down many of theirs), and they're not much better than the ones in CA & NV ,that were mentioned earlier.

You can not possibly tell me you have been in worse bathrooms than that one in Laredo!! :eyes:

I would also like to add that there are ways to avoid public restrooms if you plan your bathroom stops accordingly. Petro, the TAs' that were formerly Ripp's,and Sapp brothers all have a private restroom in their shops. Lock the door and let it rip in peace.:hah: Also another option is to use your extra roadcard points and get a clean private shower where there is soap and toilet paper already in there.

The complaints I have heard are that they lay their drivers over frequently on weekends in the northeast.

Laurie, it's just Trucker mentality. It used to be Ryder and Roadway that caught the brunt of the Jokes. They were called Big R ( Roadway) and Little R ( Ryder). Then someone started in on JB. It will always be one or two companies that get all of the bad jokes told on them.
I keep a package of Clorox Wipes with me and take it into any public restroom. After I wipe the seat then I feel comfortable using it. I just got in the habit.

If you can try to find a Barnes & Noble....they are the cleanest public bathrooms I have ever been in....always keep in mind the type of place and the type of customers they have before going to their bathroom.....by the way most Barnes & Nobles are located in mini malls...ample parking...I fyou can wait that long to find one ;)

I don't remember the name of it but the t/s one exit east of the J in Tye, Tx. has the cleanest, best smelling bathrooms I've ever been in while in a public restrrom. They even cleaned the stainless steel walls. I was quick to compliment the lady that is assigned to cleaning them. Also, that is the best truckstop food I've ever eaten too.
We delivered in Lubbock week before last and stopped there going and coming back.

2 signs I've seen posted in restrooms:
"We aim to please.
You aim too, please."
"If you sprinkle when you tinkle,
please be neat and wipe the seat."
No one apparently took the hint though.
