Some interesting tips. A few I don't understand though. Like the second part of #19 - I don't know what it means to cause the engine to "bog down".
Or #21. Does putting the engine in neutral really cause the transmission to cool down?

Interesting article good read.

This just means lugging by putting it into to high a gear too soon and letting the RPM's dropp too low.
Or #21. Does putting the engine in neutral really cause the transmission to cool down?
I think you meant to say transmission, I don't think 30 to 60 sconds will make that much difference. anymore than that you may as well put it in park, like in a traffic jam where your stuck for while.
#8 says to increase your speed prior to a hill and then maintain it up the hill. Good advice accept that speeding is speeding and exceding the limit could net you a ticket costing more than the savings.
#9 says don't accelerate up a hill, contadicts #8 a little because maintaining speed is akin to accellerating.
#11 shut off car if stopped for more than 30 seconds. Don't we already have enough congestion without having to wait for the guy who doesn't see the green right away and then needs to start his car.
#50 buy gas in the morning or evening because the air is cooler and the fuel will be cooler and more dense. This has been discussed and cussed but the bottom line is that the fuel in a below the ground tank does not change temperature based on the outside air. It does change based on the temp of the fuel going into it, so fuel that has been in a delivery tanker may be warmer when it goes into the ground thus warming up the rest of the fuel.
There are some good points to the article such as not stopping and starting quickly but some of the points are pretty lame and or dangerous.

I thought it was interesting too. Some probably are dangerous.
