Summer is when the rubber hits the road. We're talking about flip-flops, the ubiquitous sandals that consist of little more than a sole held onto the foot by a Y-shaped thong. Flip-flops used to be relegated to the beach or the locker room, but in the last few years they seem to have become the footwear of choice for a whole generation. Back in 2005 some members of the Northwestern University national champion women's lacrosse team drew flack for wearing flip-flops when they met with President Bush at the White House.

I've known for a long time they are bad for your feet.

My daughter (youngest) wore flip flops all the time and has recently been complaining about her lower legs and ankles hurting her a lot. I told her to quit wearing the flip flops. After much effort trying to convince her, I asked her to just do it for a week and see.

She hasn't complained since unless she wears them for a day now and then, she will complain. :D

Don't say no one ever warned ya!:p

I wear them on occasion, but not on a daily basis with torn sweat pants and ragged-out shirts like too many OTR drivers do in their "trashin' fashion" habits.
