Dave, did you ever find out if that loader has a bucket scale?

Or is that operator "just that good"?

Both loaders that have been loading us do have scales. However, for the first 30 minutes to 1 hour every day, the hydraulic oil isn't 'warmed up' enough to give truly accurate readings. :noclue:

I would also have to say that the loader operators are 'that good' because I've watched them. Yesterday for example, of the 7 loads I hauled, 6 of them were between 79,700 and 80,700lbs. Some days it takes 2 'scoops' to load a trailer, other days it takes 2 'scoops' and a 'tad more'.

In the past 3 weeks or so that I've been working down there in Iowa, I can count on one hand the times that I've been loaded 'too heavy' or 'too light' (anything less than 79K, I'll go back and have them toss on a little more).

ain't it nice to work with good operators.

Yes it is! Good operators minimize my time in the quarry. If the dump sites are in good shape, that also helps minimize time spent there on that end.

Some days, if things go like clockwork, it can add up to an 'extra' load. That can really help the paycheck if you're being paid by the ton or the load.

Thats why I like my hourly paycheck. Got paid for taking a 45 min. nap thursday while the boss loaded some concrete on an outside truck.
