Wal-Mart warns its employees that if a Democratic win this November happens it will bring threats of union organization to the company.

First let me say I am not anti union I was raised in a teamster household so I have a fair idea of the benifits of belonging to a good union. Buuuut Wally-world has the right idea for once. I don't support Obahma or Mc Cain but given the choice of risking my vote being the one letting Obahma win... Guess I'll have to vote for the other crook.

For one thing, Wal-Mart store employees were NOT exactly forced to take those jobs at gunpoint. They could have tried a little harder to find better employment elsewhere (like at Costco, where their employees are Teamster-represented and appear to really like their jobs).

Then again, if it would take a Union presence to wake up their corporate management and make them realize that their store employees are the company's backbone and that they deserve better treatment and wages, then why the hell not?

History has a way of repeating itself, and even though I'm not a Union worker myself I do hope that a strong resurgence of Union presence in blue-collar workplaces is on the horizon.

It's one thing to work hard & take pride in what you do for a living (as any boss would want you to do in the first place), but it's up to YOU to know what you're worth and to never sell yourself short- and a Union presence in a workplace would help keep that from happening.

Well put Jeff.......................being a Native Texan and having lived here most of my life.................union presence here has never been very strong................and for the most part I liked it that way.

However, times have changed. The out-sourcing of many jobs overseas and the relocation of many manufacturing plants south of the border has begun to sway my view on this subject.

The companies are not the blame for the out sourcing or NAFTA either if you think about it. The people to blame is Government regulations & over taxation. The US has the 2nd largest Corp. Tax rate in the world. Why should a company pay 37% Corp tax rate when they can go to another country and only pay like 6%? So give the libtards in congress the boot and cut the taxes and you will see a huge growth take place in this country.

Even if the government did something about corporate taxes, a part of which is offset by import tariffs, you still have two other major factors that make the outsourcing of jobs very appealing to companies and that is wages and the work force in general.

As for Wal Mart in general it is a shame what that company has become. Up until the mid 1980's there was often a waiting list to get on with them at any level. While entry level pay was only minimum wage or slightly more depending on the area their raise structure at the time would have good performers making $1 a more an hour in a year. The health benefit they had back then were second to none and were extremely affordable. On top of that there were good bonuses and it was not hard to retire from Wal Mart, even as an hourly worker you entire career, with more than 1 million dollars in your retirement account. This of course does not touch what the work environment was like, which to say it was fun, friendly, and enjoyable would be an understatement.

After Sam and Helen passed away plain old fashioned greed took over and still runs rampant in that company.
