My name is Frederick Schaffner, I go by SilverSurfer (or SS within posts.) I'm a third generation driver and have put 13+ yrs, over 1.5 million miles, big strappin' our great country's highways. Four years ago I parked my truck and decided I was not going back out til our industry began making the changes needed for drivers...not big business. Basically I got tired of banging my head on the wall watching drivers continuely get the short end of the stick.

Since my time off the road I have been supporting my family in the custom home business (construction/carpenter/framer.) About 2+ years ago my brother, who still drives, came up with the idea of building a website to assist professional drivers...so I gave myself a crash course and began constructing and maintaining a website (TheAmericanDriver), and I must say it's been a learning experience as well as a rewarding one - and it's a continual work in progress I've come to learn. It has actually allowed me to still be involved in the business I love...trucking. Although I do spend an enormous amount of time researching and updating - I enjoy it none the less.

The lastest of my endeavors is being active in attempting to organize professional drivers and American citizens regarding needed legislation for the trucking industry, as well as our country's current economic situation. To get everyone to become active and come together as a single force. My goal is to see everyone unite and put this country back on a prosperous course. To put an end to our government's abusive nature regarding our constitutional rights and basic needs. I'm not sure exactly which of our fore-fathers said it first, but "when the government fears the people...there is liberty." It's time to put America back on it's proper course.

Well enough of that. I'm looking forward to communicating with y'all on any and all topics. I tend to be aggressive from time to time, but am very respectful of other's opinions. I don't pursue arguementative posts, but do love a good debate. I truely believe one can learn from a good debate. Til we meet within the forums.

Safe Trails and God Bless,
Frederick (SilverSurfer) Schaffner

SS I belive it was Mr. Jefferson. "A goverment strong enough to give you anything you want is strong enough to take everything you have" Not positive about this but I'm pretty sure that's close. IF YOU LOVE YOUR FREEDOM THANK A VET.

BeetleBailey...all of our founding fathers were great in their knowledge and personal sacrifice regarding the principles of our constitution. In my opinion, none have stood in their greatness since. Here's something I do know about Jefferson...his political philosophy regarding banking. We can see how true this is now...

"I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale."

On another note...thank you to all our men and women who fight for our freedom. Although I would like to see a stop to our government putting our military men and women in harms way for other countries. As our founding father's believed...America should set an example for other's to follow. Not to meddle in other country's affairs, such as our current government is doing. Instead of protecting our way of life, we are imposing our beliefs on others. Some may think me to be an isolationist because of my belief, but I see it as upholding the true principle of liberty.
