Here it is- the new '02 GMC K1500HD SLE Crew Cab 4X4 pickup I got last week.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/captchaos/IMG_06511.jpg

I will post more photos when I get more time.

6.0L V-8 (Gas)
Automatic
3:73 Rear End with a Locking Differential
8-Lug Axles
Towing Package
Power Everything
New Tires
Chrome Tubular Running Boards
Roll-Up Tonneau Cover
Weight Distribution Hitch with Sway Control
Electric Brake Controller

The pickup was owned and very well cared for by Bonnie's sister who had EVERYTHING maintained by the dealer as per the service records she provided me. It is very clean inside & out and has never been smoked in. It pretty much loafed as it pulled my camper to & from the beach last week.

Today I had the two front door windows tinted to better match the factory tint on the rear windows while being legal.

Future planned additions:

*Webasto inbuilt electric sunroof.

*Polished stainless steel Denali grille.

*Massive sound system with multiple amplifiers, subwoofers, XM Satellite Radio and an Ipod Controller (I'm using most of that high-end equipment that is still in my black '95 Chevy).

*K&N air induction system.

*New, free-flowing exhaust set up as a true dual system. (The pickup came with dual catalytic converters before a single muffler, and it is obviously choked up!).

What will be gone soon:
*The mudflaps.
*The VentShades above the windows.
*Those ugly factory tail lights will be replaced with some nice aftermarket units.

Nice looking ride! Perfect for when you two have a 'herd' of kids. :harhar:

I've heard that the 6.0 is very easily upgraded to 500 hp with just a few bolt on modifications. :jawdrop: :D Just think, then you'd be able to pass everything but a gas station. :p

I looked at an extended cab version of the same truck (in maroon), a while back, but I can't really justify buying a 3/4 ton when a 1/2 ton will do.

Thanks, but the thought of Beanie & I ever having kids is quite scary! Scary enough to where it won't happen! As it is, I'm a bad enough influence on the kids she already has!

I've heard that too but I can tell it has plenty of power already for what I use it for. Once I do a few modifications to make it breathe better & see improved fuel mileage I'm sure it will also have a noticable power improvement.

When I was first interested in this pickup I honestly thought it was a 3/4-ton. I was not sure if I was going to get serious about buying it until I got a copy of the original window sticker and saw that it was really a 1500HD (Heavy Duty 1/2-ton). It's rated as a 1/2-ton on my state registration but has heavier duty suspension and 8-lug axles. It still rides nice too- I've been around 3/4 and 1-ton pickups enough to where I had been leaning toward a 1/2-ton for a better ride.

That thang was SPOTLESS when I met you and Jimmy last spring! :wow:

If ya wanna see 'dirt', step into a bikini and come wash my pickup! (It'd be like 'Mud wras'lin with a Chevy! ) :yikes:

I used to run 9 miles of gravel roads ONE WAY to work each day, rain or shine. 'Dirt', is NOT an option! :D:D

Oh, I'd provide the bucket, sponge and wheel polish. :D All for the chance of catching you in a bikini. You know what they say about 'older women'.........:unibrow: ;)

If you notice in this other photo of mine it already has the fender flares but they're painted the same color as the body.

If that pickup ever needs a new paint job while I own it, it will be painted in a darker shade of blue metallic- my favorite color. I doubt it will ever need it, as I wax the paint on every vehicle I own every 6 months and do a clay treatment on them every two years. The old '95 Chevy that I just gave to my Dad and my '73 Charger both still have their original black paint.

I use Zymol liquid wax- it comes in a baby blue bottle with black lettering.

Claying removes impurities from the paint after you wash & before you wax the vehicle. Most reputable detail shops do that kind of work. The shine after that is done properly will blow your mind. They do it on show cars with really nice, expensive paint jobs too.

And it does not hurt the clear coat????....is claying another word for compounding???

Where do ya get the Zymol..??...:D

And it does not hurt the clear coat????

No it doesn't. I did it on the black '95 Chevy you rode in as well as a few other vehicles I owned and most of them had a clear coat.

....is claying another word for compounding???

No. Compounding is an entirely different procedure. Claying is basically a way to deep-clean the vehicle's paint prior to waxing it, and keeps you from waxing impurities back into the paint.

Where do ya get the Zymol..??...:D

I've bought it at Pep Boys and AutoZone in the past. Click here (http://www.zymol.com.au/) to see their stuff.

Why do men always think we women are incapable of doing things for ourselves? :( I am the same way as you McGee, I do it myself, if it is something I just can't do myself or don't know how, I'll ask my brother or my dad to show me once and you never will have to again. :)

While I was home for a day last week I took this photo to show some add-ons.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/captchaos/GMCAdd-Ons001.jpg

The two front windows are now tinted, and I installed the chrome door handle covers that were given to me as a Birthday gift in August.

With the cooler weather in the fall coming up (often a little later in Texas) , I will hopefully be getting a power sunroof installed when I head home in late October.

I still need to get those damn VentShades off of there as well as those plastic screw-on mudflaps.

Back side? No, that was the front of the store but the entrance was behind me! I was there looking for a San Antonio Spurs receiver hitch insert but didn't find one there!

i had to add them to my truck.

While you may not like those 'VentShades', they do work well to let off excess heat when your truck is parked. I have them on my pickup and leave my windows down about a half inch when it's parked at home or the shop. Letting it vent off excess heat makes a big difference to me when I get back to the shop and jump in it to go home.

As far as the mudflaps go, keep them on (or replace them with better ones), unless the truck is gonna be a 'tar baby' or you're gonna drive it in Wisconsin during the winter. ;)

My '93 .....while there is no rust on the lower edges of the body, there is 'a lot' of rock chips in the paint. Enough rock chips that if I don't take care of them within the next year or two, I probably will have problems with body panels rusting through.

I shoulda put flaps on it shortly after I bought it. :wtf:

I like the 'chrome' door handles!

I personally don't like the looks of the VentShades and with all of my side & rear windows tinted they are pretty much useless. As far as the mudflaps go, I don't like the looks of those either and the only off-road driving that pickup ever sees now is in the sand while I'm at the beach.

Those two items also add wind drag and I will be doing some engine intake & exhaust work as well as an ECM reprogram with a goal of getting 20 MPG (highway) out of this gas-powered beast. I got my '95 2WD extended cab with a 350 V-8 up to 24 MPG with those same improvements.

I normally do put aftermarket tires & rims on every personal vehicle I buy but in this case I'm pretty content with those factory aluminum rims.

I just want to eventually get rid of those 'Good-for-a-year' tires and replace them with Michelins to get a smoother ride while holding up in the Texas heat.

I'm headed home later in the month and will do some more work on the pickup.

I found a San Antonio Spurs receiver hitch insert and ordered it. I will try to get a drop-in bedliner installed and then remove the VentShades & mud flaps too.

Hey Capt. have you seen the Bedrug?
I got mine back in '05 then when I got my '08 I had the dealer remove it and put in the new truck.
I love it!
Holds everthing in place, can crawl around on hands and knees.
Pretty nice.

The pickup came with a bedrug when I bought it. While it is nice it wouldn't last long when it's considered the stuff I carry in a pickup would destroy that carpet in no time. I'd feel better with a bedliner that can handle the abuse better.

I'm taking the pickup in on Monday morning to have a Webasto power sliding sunroof installed in it. This will be the type to where the glass panel retracts between the headliner and the metal roof, just like most factory units.

Does that sunroof have a tilt option on it?
I Googled it but I had trouble trying to get the website to load.

Yes, it does have the tilt option.

Go to www.mysunroof.com (http://www.mysunroof.com) and check out the Hollandia 740. (http://www.webastoshowroom.com/pdf/hollandia700_brochure.pdf) That's the one I'm having installed later today.

I took the VentShades off yesterday and removed the adhesive from the doors. The pickup looks 100% better without them now! Also installed my new San Antonio Spurs receiver hitch cover and some stainless steel bezels on my personalized license plates.

As I mentioned earlier this week I got the sunroof installed. Dan at Chuck's Tops and Trim (http://www.chuckstopsandtrim.com/) did an all-around awesome job! It looks identical to a factory sunroof!

Closed, with the shade forward. Notice the fixture made into the reshaped headliner for the dome light.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/captchaos/GMCAdd-Ons001-1.jpg

Check out the overhead console- that used to be one of those factory pieces with the garage door opener holder, sunglass holder, and overhead map pocket. Dan modified (shortened) it to work with the sunroof and installed the pushbutton switch just ahead of the map lights.

Shade pulled back, glass panel closed:

Thanks!

I put an under-the-rail bedliner in today so I could store my tool box and other stuff. The pickup already has a Pace-Edwards locking tonneau cover and a tailgate lock.

Now it's time to get back to work before I spend any more money! Note the new hitch cover!
