I'm such an extreme Mack Truck fanatic, eternally pi$$ed off about what Volvo is doing to the Mack Truck brand since they took over Mack, and look at what I had on the trailer today:

Actually, we move this machine about once a week for a small local excavating contractor that does not have their own trailer.

Lately I've been the one that ends up moving it.

Putting my Volvo dislike aside for a moment, this machine operates nice and smooth and seems to be well put together. Must be due to all the technology that Volvo hijacked when they took over the Akerman Co. about 15 years ago and eliminated the Akerman brand and started putting the Volvo name on them.

Smile Kranky1,

You can still purchase a "cornfield caddy" with no outside influence ( RIGHT).......

The smaller Volvo equipment holds up BUT our larger machines are '"JUNK".......both our 460's are "boat anchors".....from interior to bottoms ....enough so that they are being replaced by 345's or 330's and our newest "street" machines are Komatsu 308's ( these things are the "Balls") ,replacing the 360 Volvos ( they are now "Clean-up" or detail machines.....

The "Jury" is still out on our new Granites, the Vol/Mack power is starting to have "little" issues and they "suck" fuel while my 427 E series still "sips"....But our newest 550 Cat is a fuel "Slug"........also , 3-4 mpg and "Kitty doc" can not find anything wrong......

S

p.s. we still own our original akerman rubber tire hoe......solid iron compared to the 4 newer Volvo's.......

Dragging the belly dump, my li'l ol' volvo sucks fuel like it's going out of style. This tank full is averaging right at 4.7 mpg.

Most I've ever averaged with it was dragging a 53' dry van.......5.6 mpg.

I doubt the POS could get 6 mpg off a cliff with a 80 mph tail wind. :yikes:

Oh, those new Mack motors are made by Renault. They're so 'pfrench', they'd surrender to a Mercedes motor. ;):rofl2[1]:
