*While reading this, pay attention to the times I received the phone calls.
Yesterday was a very long day at work hauling and spreading ag lime. We started working pretty early and were past 14 hours when I got cut loose.
The new conveyor works like a dream.
Anyways, around 7:15 last night, I was cut loose after dumping my last load.
When I got back to the shop, I was talking to the bossman's son when he got a phone call from the guy running the TerraGator that I had been working with all day.
After he got off the phone, he told me that they had 'spilled' some ag lime and would be running late getting back to the shop because they had to clean it up before leaving the job site.
About a half hour later, the guy that was running the TerraGator called me (at 8:12 pm), and told me exactly what had happened.
Now, as you know, when you get tired and are working, mistakes happen, right? ;) In this case, BOTH the driver and the TerraGator driver were at fault.
Well, the guy running the TerraGator was doing some clean up while waiting for the last loaded truck to come back. Since he had to raise the conveyor to shovel up lime from underneath it, he had to move the TerraGator from under the end of the conveyor. He did. Once he had finished cleaning up, he backed the TerraGator under the belt and ran the lime up into the box. Then he moved the TerraGator so the truck could get by and move into position to back up to the hopper.
The truck arrived, he helped the driver back into position so he could dump the load. Why he had left the belt running, I don't know. :noclue:
Anyways, as he's walking to the TerraGator so he could back it under the belt, he looked back..............just in time to see the box go up and end gate open.........dumping lime onto the running belt without the TerraGator under it. :yikes:
By the time he ran back to shut down the belt, roughly 5 tons of ag lime had ran up the belt, off the end and onto the ground. :wow:
Here's the funny part...........
The only shovels on site were like this one (except ours have straight handles).

The driver that screwed up called me at 12:46 am this morning. They had just finished up and were heading to the shop. :wow:
Sucks to be them!! :rofl2[1]:
Glad that I wasn't anywhere around at that time! I hate shoveling. ;)
