View Full Version : Boooo Tri City Canvas

On June 21,2005 I called and ordered a 3 piece tarp set along with a 10x12 smoke tarp from Tri City Canvas.

Now I just didn’t order your generic D ring type tarps, but grommets through out with 3 rows on all 4 sides (6’ drops), coated Air bag material. They said NO problem and gave me a respectable price for all the tarps. They also said that they split the cost of shipping. I agreed to this and I requested they used FEDEX to assure quick delivery because I was in dire need of tarps as my old tarps went to mexico and I had no tarps left. I requested this because UPS always drag their feet when it comes to shipping and I was heading out on July 5th and needed my tarps ASAP. They assured me that the tarps would be ready and shipped by June 27. It is now JULY 18 and I’m still waiting for my tarps.

I’ve called them on July 1st and he said they forgot to ship it.
I called then called the owner on July 8, explained what was going on and to find out what the problem was with shipping. To my disbelief, he went a whine fest… I’m serious here people !!! He started complaining to me about how his supplier had increased the costs of tarp materials ect… At this point, I told him that the tarps were already made and that the problem was in shipping them, NOT the cost of the tarps. He told me that he would find out what was going on and call me back… He never called me back.

After having a friend check Thursday and then again Sunday to see if the tarps have been delivered on to find out they still haven’t been.
I called on July 11th to either cancel my order or settle this shipping issue.
Their excuse was that they had called FEDEX 5 times to pick up the tarps and they supposedly never showed up. At this point I told them I didn’t care who they used… Ship the damn tarps !

I had only requested FEDEX because I have always had received exceptional delivery times with them and UPS has cost me money waiting for parts. (200 miles, 3 days no parts). Then, 11 days to deliver a package the size of a pack of cigarettes.

It’s now the 15th and I’m still waiting… So far I have lost 2 loads that I would have taken that paid upwards of $3 a mile but needed tarped. So because if their lack of ability to follow thru, they have cost me thousands of dollars in lost revenue when.
As of the 18th I cancelled the order as they never shipped them at that time and re-ordered light weight tarps with D.S. Sewing out of New Haven CT.

So there you have it… you make up your own mind if this the type company you want to deal with.

Buyer Beware, just because they sell you something, doesn't mean that you will ever get it.

After going thru this ordeal, I found out that some friends of mine had the very same problem except Tri City kept shipping their tarps around the country and when they did recieve them... they were wrong, not once but twice... :wtf:

Since first writing this post on OOIDA, I have missed out on a couple other well paying loads because of not having tarps.
I will openly admit that I don't tarp much, but when your faced with only a handfull of choices (loads) and they are all paying low rates, but the 1 high paying load has to be tarpped... guess which one I would have normally chosen ? You got it.. the high paying tarped load, but because of these incompitant idioits... I have to settle for loads that I wouldn't normally take going to places I normally wouldn't go.

If you pull a flat or step... you know exactly what I'm talking about...

Deal with them if you want.. but don't expect you product to be shipped to you in a timely manner.

Make sure that you copy and paste the link to this thread in an email to the President of the company.

I hope that you're looking elsewhere for the type of tarps you want.

Oh they know Dave... When I called them to cancel the order, they were quite upset with me, that I posted this same post on OOIDA. They claimed that about 10 calls came in reference to my post about them... So I believe they have gotten the message. I'm just making sure other know how they treated me after I told them that it was imparative that I got tarps ASAP ! I guess ASAP meant whenever.. :wow:

Sorry about your bad luck with Tri City Tarps.
I deal with a company in Salina Ks, Longshot Enterprises and they will deliver my tarps to me if I am in a time crunch.
I orded some air bag material tarps witha 7 foot drop and an extra row of D rings. Cadium plated to not rust.
Made just like I orderd and made sure I could have them on a Saturday.

Got several lumber tarps I could sell. and a couple that need repairs.
I have too many tarps and da mama says, gotto go.
Most are 2 pc lumber tarps.

Actually if anyone is in the area and needs a tarp , let me know.
I guarantee it won't break the bank.
