I have a 9mm Taurus PT-92 AF. I bought this gun years ago for 250.00. It was used and came with Hogue grips and 3 15 round magazines. Anyhow i figured I would finally get around to shooting it and I discovered that it stove pipes every round. I'm thinking it is the magazines as they are old. I have cleaned the gun several times since I bought it to clean out the dust every once in awhile. There appears to be no signs of damage to the pistol. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm going to try and see if I can find a new magazine for it and try that. If that doesn't work I'll send it to Taurus and see if they can fix it. They have a lifetime warranty and there are no modifications to the pistol. I have tried regular FMJ rounds (winchester) and JHP (Hydra-Shok) and they both stove pipe.

Don't know what to tell you, since I'm not a fan of Taurus firearms.
Have you searched for a 'Taurus Firearms Forum'?
I've found a forum for every type of firearm (brand name), that I own. Usually a lot of good info to be had from them.

The primary cause is normally related to a worn or dirty extractor. Limp wristing is also a case.
Check your extractor to see if it is worn otherwise I would suggest a double handed hold to eliminate limp wristing. Have someone else fire it to check this out.
I am assuming that limp wristing is not your problem as I did some research and find that the 92 has a problem with the factory extractors and since yours happens every shot I would suggest that you simply remove the extractor (use a small pin punch --2 pins) and send the old one back to Taurus and they will send you a new one. Otherwise check with a local gunsmith -- they may have one in stock and I think they are under $10.00. Taurus does have a good lifetime warranty.

Let me know how it works out ---- I am not a big fan of that model but I have heard some good reports on them (also a very few bad ones). That is a clone of a Breatta 92F so a gunsmith may have a extractor for one of those also which I am assuming should fit.
Wish you the best of luck.

Will do Bookworm..I'll try to get it fixed after the holidays..might be tempted to buy more than an extractor if I go to a gun store now....lol.
