Capt or any one that know Pony Packs
do you know how to remove the collar on the end of the main shaft?
I can see that it is cocked a bit and I do have an oil leak.
I want to replace the seal and the collar.
It is only cocked a bit but I tried to tap it in ( gently as I was afraid to damage something) I am not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination. Got air tools but the brain is not trained it this sort of stuff.
PP gets a bit to technical for me. I need laymens terms.

I've never been into a Pony Pack unit to do repairs, but Magicman has a son that is a mechanic and has done repairs on his unit. He would be more familiar with that unit than I am.
I think you're trying to remove what is referred to as a "Speedy-Sleeve" from that main shaft.
I don't know how much room you have to work on that unit, but different applications that I have worked on in the past, I have used a file to wear a spot into the sleeve to weaken the metal enough to where it would come apart once it's tapped with a hammer. Once the sleeve is removed, put a light coating of sealer on the main shaft, knock the new sleeve on STRAIGHT, taking care not to damage it. Then, put a light coat of engine oil on the seal surface before putting the actual seal in- this prevents the lip of the sleeve from cutting the seal. Put some sealer on the outside of the seal before pushing it straight into the engine block.
I would strongly advise changing the engine oil once this work is done due to the possibility of dirt or other foreign matter getting into the oil while you're doing these repairs.

While sitting at the J in tooele I got up the gumption to fix the seal on my PP.
good thing I bought 2 of them. The collar was $20 bucks and the seals were dirt cheap. I messed up the 1st one but got it done today. The collar was spinning in the housing and causing the oil leak.
Works good now. No oil dripping on the ground.
I have fomotumo drain valve on the PP. just opened it a bit and filled my gator ade bottles. No mess. had several supervisors to assist me if the need arose but managed nicely.
Not nearly as difficult a job as I had imagined it to be.
