I am a new member to this site and I am trying to find a new place to lease my tractor to. I have a fairly clean record and I need to get as far away from Central Refrigerated Service as quickly as possible. They have got to be one of the worst if not worst and most irresponsible companies I have ever worked for. If anyone has any suggestions or question please send me a private message and I can answer accordingly. If your an o/o looking for a place to go and you think about CRS I strongly urge you to think again.

Truck info:
'05 KW W-900
sliding fifthwheel
air-ride
tri-pac
ISX-450 Cummins
13 speed

Experience:
1 yr OTR
4 yrs local experience

Location:
Valley Center, CA (San Diego, CA)

Hate to tell you this but a good o/o company might not exist right now. You might try Marten or Schneider. Not sure if Schneider still has their percentage program.
Or maybe SCG out of OH. Good Luck.

I think your right. As of right now I am stuck, my finance company is pulling the you may not leave the company your leased to card. Which is absolutely wonderful considering I have not really been working.

My advice is don't burn any bridges by posting negatively about the company you are currently at while providing a picture of your truck and other information about you on a public forum, you never know who could be reading this.

As Jack said right now isn't a good time to be looking for work, especially with a
fairly clean record there are many drivers out there right now with impeccable records also looking.

I guess one ticket could be construed a few different ways, as fairly clean, clean or not so clean record. Come August it will be off of there. As for the burning bridges it really doesnt matter they breached the contract that we had together so I am looking for a place to bail to. Not worth jumping when you have nothing as a backup.

As Acorn noted
I have a fairly clean record actually means what? Has it been 3 years for this ticket?

Why not ask Jack5 about finding your own loads, he does it and makes good money. Share with him Jack!

Yeah that ticket was/is the only moving violation I have ever recieved and I plan to keep it as the only one. It will be three years the end of August that I had recieved it. Right now I am working local for a company here and looking to hire a team for my road truck and let them turn and burn. I also have one accident over three years ago, but it was a non-fault un-preventable. I was hit by a drunk driver back in '05 head-on. Nasty wreck but thank god nobody died.

WOW, in 1 week you went to not being able to get away from that company and not making any money and now you work local and have a team that is gonna make you a rich man. Congrats dude!:1hi5:

I am looking for a team to run my truck. I got back into local work with my brothers company because they have government project out the yin yang. Hopefully I can find someone soon, if my truck sits it wont be the end of the world but I would rather have it running and make money on all ends. Unfortunately for me, CRS is where I am stuck for 23 more months.... Oh, well life can never exactly go as you would like it to. Yes, I own the truck, yes it is leased to a company, but my contract with my bank had a clause in it I forgot about. So until it is paid off in full I have to stick with CRS and may not leave unless they fold up and go out of business.

I have never heard of such a contract to where the finance company controls where you have to lease to unless you are lease-purchasing from the same company. As far as finding your own loads go,you must be very stress-resistant to go that route. That is why my truck is selling and I couldn't be happier.

The company takes "recourse" on the loan. The only way to change is to try and get refinanced without it.

These are the Fleece/purchase programs that Swift, Prime, CR England, Central Refrigerated, etc.......have.

They line up financing with a bank (or their own in-house financing), with terms that benefit them only.

Dave, your on the right track but just a little bit off. The deal with the financing is the decision that was made by the owner of the finance company. Due to them reposessing too many trucks over the last two years. Personally I would of not gone with this company but they were the last option because all the other options fizzled out when it came down to do or die. Thanks crappy economy.

As for the Swift lease setup F-That. It is a joke of a deal and I wouldnt go there.

Jack would eat all the burritos and be left with nothing but the gas he passes.

RSTrans did you know that by working for someone else you are giving up a huge chunk of revenue. If you have reliable equipment that you own it would behoove you to consider and check out the numbers for becoming an independent company owner. All you need is the will to work and work smart along with the ability to learn basic logistic planning. There are many services you can take advantage of for small fees that will cut your work load down to basically not much more than a regular owner operator and if done right you can make much more money. Good luck to you whatever you choose to do.

I think RS is already now running his own company, that was an old post

This was a post I had put out there early last year while I was looking for a gap to fill the void. At the moment I have three trucks up and running pretty much full time. I found a small niche to get in to and it has so far worked in my favor. After negotiating with my finance company that had done the Kenworth they agreed to allow me to go out on my own. I have managed to obtain and hold a customer base and do not really have to worry about being paid. So far this has been the best decision I have made since I purchased my first OTR truck. Right now my fleet consists of one OTR Tractor, 53' Great Dane Dry Van, and two pilot trucks that I own. I have additional leased equipment that includes a 48' Flatbed, Murray Professional RGN (16 tire Expandable) and a Murray Easy-Load RGN (8 Tire).
