Thursday 4/7/05, I was s/b on I-57 near Marion IL.

I came up behind a unmarked bear in a black Mustang with the disco lights going.

As I got closer to him, I realized that he was escorting a long truck. Since ya don't see one of these on the road every day, I grabbed my camera and started snapping pics.

I wouldn't mind running something like this once just to give it a whirl. I think it'd definately be interesting.

Anyways, here's the pics.

There's a total of 18 axles (70 tires), under that bad boy! :yikes:

Pretty cool!

Guarantee ya Dave, If you get the chance to do it go for it.( your truck won't be able to do it)
I used to be in heavy haul and I felt rally good if I had a load that caught your attention.

That truck was over weight MTY or he has a 2nd truck pull the Jeeps and stingers for him. The company I worked for had several like that and carried an annual permit for over weight when mty. Some times has to run hooked up to go for the load due to lack of assembly room on site.

on occasion would leave trailers at rest area or side of road and go fuel and return hook up and go.

Many with police escort and some of those cops are just a bit left of crazy when escorting.

AZ HP were the one that wanted the job done in minimum amount of time and would wake us at 0100 and get us rolling. Permit was for daylight only but they were the bosses and got er done.

Once you do something like that you will never forget it, you will have a lot of respect for the truck you drive now and some things will take on a different prespective for you. Same roads same loads but a little bit different.
Securement, securement, never seems to be enough.

Saw on the loadboard a while back, a run from Jersey to Ohio, paying 9 Grand....when I clicked on it, they wanted a 13 axle trailer, for the load.. :yikes:

Had to pass that one up...would have made a nice check for the week.. :hah:

Dave, you'd have had a blast driving that.

In 1966 I moved a load that weighed 311 ton.....still remember it as if it was yesterday.
