It's been kind of a busy past two weeks, but this morning I finally found the time to install & test the new parts I ordered for my 1911A1. :devil[1]: I was gonna have the local gun shop install the parts, but I decided to do it myself. I did however (even though it passed the 'function checks'), have the gun shop check it out before I fired it.

Next 'project' is new grips, lower and flare the ejection port (so it quits denting my brass), reparkerize the slide then maybe new sights.

AHHHHH! (Slobber Slobber drool drip!) Nothing like a featherweight trigger and a no-snag extended grip safety to dress up any stock '11....plus keeps the inside of your thumb and nose-picking finger from "recoil abuse" with those serrated ".45 commando" (oops my bad - it's "Combat Commander"...I think...) type hammers.....

Toss the cheesy stock rosewood grips for a good set of pachmayrs!...

Thank you!

Actually, I'm looking for some other grips and am having a hard time trying to figure out which ones I want. I want them to look really nice, but not 'too nice' since this is my daily carry weapon.

Here's one of my choices so far........

Those aren't bad - and the price is right too..

But the one thing I found about new wood grips is that even though they were made for a stock '11 frame - they fit - but never quite perfectly that first time - always had to have them tweaked and trimmed a little bit - it probably wouldn't make any difference to the uninitiated, but I like the feel and fit of them to be 'just right'....

I hear ya.

This guy supposedly fits the grips he makes to his Kimber. Whether Kimber 1911's are made to the exact same specs as a Springfield Armory 1911, I have no idea.

I'm sure they're pretty close in specs - but it just depends on the shooter (I'm picky!)

Speaking of grips, used to know of a guy in Hubert, NC that made quality custom grips and stocks, mainly balanced pairs for competition .22's, but he fabricated for other weapons also - made sense because he was just outside the back gate of Camp Lejeune - but as it's been 25 or so years, not sure if he's still alive or not....

Quality stuff - if I find his addy, I'll pass it on.....

Looks Good my friend ---- they are easy to work on and quite a bit of fun to upgrade.

Thank you Sir!

I've been doing some reading over on a 1911 forum about 'hi cap' Springfield 1911's. Interesting concept, but dayum :36_6_4[1]: they look 'huge' compared to a single stack 1911.

Unless you have huge hands and real long fingers the hi-caps are not the greatest to shoot. I have big hands but fairly short and I found them to be uncomfortable.

Easier just to use a 10 round mag.
