I deliver in Granite City, IL on Monday morning, and I'm reloading there before I head to Ardmore, Oklahoma for delivery on Tuesday morning as I work my way toward home for a week off.

Have a safe weekend!

I dunno. They told me yesterday to call in before closing time today to find out, but I was taking a nap between 4 and 6 pm. :D :1hi5:

I'm off for the weekend though. :nenernener:

I'll give them a call in the morning to find out. :duh1:

Picked up a load at Kelloggs in Tracy CA and dropped that in Medford OR as it doesn't deliver till 1800 sunday in Clackamas. Got another one going to Reno, but the trailer's in the shop  it delivers the 19th @ 2300 so I'll probably drop that one in Reno at the yard there.

I got to fish for a little bit this morning. Managed 6 bass all about a pound to two pounds. Tomorrow I have to move a few pieces of equipment, get the F-350 washed and packed up. I am leaving for TX on monday and depending on what is what may be back home next weekend and then roll back out on the happy highway.

That just means you can't complain when you get a crap load because you didn't call in. On the other hand, I complained to my boss about our trailers having no tarps (got pulled over for that and a few other things on Wednesday) and got Monday, and possibly more off for doing so. Guess that means I'll start training earlier for the new job I have lined up...

Did the trailer have mudflaps?

Did the trailer have mudflaps?

Yes...but they were 6" too short, one of the tickets the cop wanted to give me. In the land of actually trying not to put out the windshield of the person behind you, mudflaps are supposed to be no more than 12" off the ground. However, many dump truckers try to run them a little higher so they don't constantly get ripped off on the job. Usually they are cut to be about mid-axle, which the cop said he would let go if there were not other problems. The tarp law is really a joke, as the top soil was below the top rail, and about the only thing that blows out of a dump body is sand, or fines from road mix. The tarp law is one of those feel good laws put in place to appease those who know nothing about the dump truck industry.

While I need a job, Herb, I am not willing to risk my license in a town I have already been warned in, just as I would not risk possible injury to those behind me by leaving the yard with no mudflaps.

Why would your boss give you a 3 day layoff because you got a ticket for something you had no control over?

BTW, I was just givin ya some sh*t about the mudflaps.

Because he is an idiot. He thinks he'll whip me in line, but doesn't know that I am only there until my Hazmat check is done. Meantime, someone else called me this morning asking if I could drive his truck for a couple of days, and this guy has a completely legal truck...and pays better.

By the way, I talked myself out of the tickets but got a warning to not come back to that town unless everything was fixed. Problem is that one of the dirt piles we are getting topsoil from is in that town.

if you get a choice on what border crossing, i would take sarnia ontario, its just easier and toll is cheaper then windsor/detroit, and about the same distance as well.

There is lots of truckstops around london, there is a big flying J and also a husky and fifth wheel.

let me know if anymore questions about london area, i live about an hour north of there.

Damn straight that truck is legal. I personally checked it out, replaced a steering shaft joint and took it to the safety lane Friday, where it passed with flying colors. I even half assed washed it for you......... in the rain.

I don't think Todd is going to take it across- he may be repowering it with another driver who has the proper credentials.

In Todd's mind, knowing that there's a Flying J in existence ANYWHERE he's going makes him 100% content! LOL!

tahoetr When you get to Canada dont forget the gravy on the fries.

I've been to Canada many times since the late 1990s but never heard of gravy on the fries until I went to Maine about two years ago and had dinner in Portland. That was weird!

Then again, in San Antonio and most of south Texas we have Queso (Spanish for cheese, pronounced "Khe-soh"). It's a melted cheese dip and is generally spiced up with Pico de Gallo ("Peeko-de-Gayo"). It gets put on most anything we eat- even chicken fried steaks, burgers, and yes, fries often get a splattering of queso. We also dip our warm homemade tortillas in it.

In Waxahachie, TX. Yesterday I rolled in to Lordsburg, NM to get something to drink opened the door and saw oil all over my steps. My new pickup is leaking tranny fluid and as a result I get to take it to the Ford dealer tomorrow to get it fixed. Depending on what happens I will be over here for a bit with family. Great Grandpa has perked up a bit but he still isn't doing well.

I got into the DFW area yesterday and have been doing some local work. I'm delivering in Fort Worth now and then will be headed back to the so-called 'terminal' in Irving to get my stuff out of the truck before I get into my pickup and head to San Antonio later today for some time off.

Dry van = poverty wagon. :throne:

I make most of my income pulling a belly dump or live bottom from spring until around Christmas. I 'starve to death' pulling a dry van from New Years until about this time of year.

I'm off for the weekend. :hi5[1]:

I will return to work next weekend- and with a previous employer.

I'm just the opposite EA, I love my RGN and having to throw chains. Makes for a good workout in the day when I do 5-6 moves. I really miss running a transfer truck, that is my passion and one day I will be back at it when the construction picks back up.
