Knight buys Idaho Falls, ID based Edward Bros Inc.

Truckload carrier Knight Transportation Inc has completed the acquisition of 100% of the stock of Edwards Brothers Inc, a refrigerated truckload carrier based in Idaho Falls ID. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Kevin P Knight, chairman and chief executive officer of Phoenix AZ-based Knight Transportation, said, "Edwards Brothers has a long history in the refrigerated market, and we expect a good fit with our successful Knight Refrigerated operation.

“Edwards Brothers has generated approximately $25 million to $30 million in revenue, including both trucking and brokerage operations," said Knight. "We expect to retain a majority of the revenue, focusing on the most favorable relationships and attempting to match fleet size with the number of qualified drivers. Prior to the acquisition, Edwards Brothers was marginally profitable."

Edwards Brothers will operate under its own name for the near term, with a transition to the Knight Refrigerated name likely.

GREAT! Now, there's going to be an even bigger geographical area out west where the rates for refrigerated loads are going to be "in the toilet" due to expansion of a cheap freight carrier! :wtf:

I sure hope there continues to be enough good-paying loads around for what owner-operators are still left during & after the "fuel price storm" and those cheap mega-haulers killing the rates!

this sucks,,,,,
I grew up in Idaho Falls, and EB has been there longer than i have been alive. Grew up admiring thier trucks (lived 1 mile from thier home office)
Now thier trucks are going to be cut back to 60 mph, like the rest of the Knight fleet. And i was thinking about applying with EB. Guess thats' out of the queston now. Kind of surprise Randy Marten didn't buy them, since EB hasa termenal in Green Bay, adn Marten is Mondovi,Wi
