Well from now until further notice, myself and my new hire will be steer piloting windmill blades from Davenport, IA to some place in Alberta Canada. The run is going to be a minimum of 10 weeks to start. So if you all see S.A. & M.H. Johnson Trucking KW's that are black with a gold Pete and two RST trucks in the back that will be us with the stupid goofy looking Canadian light boxes in the bed.
Thanks Pipeman you helped me greatly on getting that situation straight. I just hope that the Alberta DOT will pay my fuel bill for the increased wind drag because of those ugly things.

Monday - Either hauling and spreading sand at the Mankato Golf Course (the uppity one off of North Riverfront Dr), or driving a dump truck for a smaller dirt/construction company. They need a few drivers, so I guess the bossman is gonna 'loan' them a few of our drivers. That oughta be interesting since most of our guys have never ran a dump truck. :rofl2[1]: Wonder how many will end up flopped over? :asking::duh1:

Better make sure "Xerox" is right behind you, or else he could end up "horizontal"!

I was being sarcastic about the Alberta DOT. I'm just annoyed about what they required, but hey it's their way or don't go to Canada. So needless to say I had to comply.

He must've screwed up and I didn't hear about it. :asking: He's been OTR for the past week.

Guess I'm not doing either. Some of us are leaving early and going down to Gilmore City IA and hauling ag lime from there up to Northrop MN. Leaving the shop about 4:45 am. :duh1:
Will make 3 rounds per truck.

As of this morning we have 64 trucks pre-registered. If the pre-registered are any indication of years past, and the ones who show up the day of, we are possibly looking at anywheres between 75-100 trucks

I've been freaking starting at 3am for the past 5 or 6 months if that is any solace to you when that alarm goes off Big Guy. 11 hour days 6 days a week makes Gary's wife and daughters spend even more god damn money.....:flyswat[1]::rofl2[1]:

hey now, the USA also has alot of weird trucking laws which we don't have in canada, and we still have to follow them!
Such as HOS and gross and axle weights, and even our red and white oversize load sign with the big D is illegal in the usa! That is annoying as well.

I know your pain buddy! :duh1: I've been doing 13+ hour days (with the exception of 'rain days'), and haven't even begun to work Saturdays yet. But it's coming. You'd think that after being married for damn near 30 years, that the wife woulda already bought all the shit she needs for herself and the house. :duh1: Maybe SHE should go back to work. I'm tired of being :broke:
Oh, tomorrow I'll be leaving the shop at 4:45. 1 round, Gilmore City IA to Northrop MN. Bounce over to Northwood IA, reload ag lime outta there and head for the Blue Earth MN area. Gonna have 11 trucks hauling to something like 5 jobs in the area.

Well the first round went fairly smooth up in Canada. I am back in Davenport to do it all over again. I have one question for you Canadians on here. WTF???? is with Canada only allowing 10,000 pounds not kilos on a spread axle? That was some BS that screwed us up in the Coutts Scales. Everyone up that way was really friendly well atleast the ones I dealt with. Leaving out on Monday after a 34 to do it again.
BikerBoy if I had seen that goofy candy cane looking thing coming at me I would of ignored it here in the states as to me it stands for "Dumbass". Everyone and their brother around here understands what a yellow sign with black lettering and amber lights mean. I am not big on having that giant box with the lights on top of it above my truck. I was very happy with my setup as it was before hand. I will post some pictures here in a bit to show what we have been up to.

That is not all of canada with that rule, Ontario and quebec allow the same weight or more on spread axles as the usa does.
And that rule is likely a detterent to keep out US carriers.

That would definitely make sense.
