At no time does that meaningful phrase, "created equal," have more meaning than on election day. It doesn't matter whether you are black or white, man or woman, 18 years old or 88, a millionaire or homeless. On election day, your vote counts just as much as the other person's.

I guess I didn't really understand the article.

Anybody that wishes to vote can! (convicts and ex-felons excluded----which I agree with).

Why do we need another amendmant to protect the one we already have?

I'm confused. :wtf:

Most don't care to vote anyway here in America. I have been in third world countries where they will die to vote, even though there is much scandal.

I was in the Philippines during the People Power overthrow of Marcos.

In the mid-1980's a popular movement sprang up to oust the corrupt Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos. As the resistance gained momentum, two key military officers defected from the government and sequestered themselves inside a Manila military base. What followed was an amazing example of nonviolent struggle as hundreds of thousands of ordinary Filipinos took to the streets to protect the rebel officers from troops still loyal to Marcos.

"What the story of the Philippine revolution demonstrates is the power people can have when they withdraw consent."
