I just made another minor modification to my tractor. Since I have been getting a lot of calls for Power Only I decided that it was in my best interest to add some air lines to the back.

I made two brackets, one of which I welded to the rear cross member where my 3" receiver hitch is and the other I welded to the frame just in front of the cat walk behind the sleeper. I attached glad hands to both plus a 7 way to the bracket behind the cab. I used bulk heads and then with some elbows and couplers ran 3/8" rubber air hose between both sets.

With having glad hands and the trailer plug on the bracket behind the cab I can take and utilize what came on my truck stock without having to tee off of the TPV or add a junction box with a second 7-way. Now all I have to do is hook up my hoses and plug the 7-way in and I have air and power to the back. Also this doubles as a safe and secure place to hold my lines so that they do not get hung up in the driveline.

Here are some pictures.

This is of the bracket behind the sleeper.

You still using that big red sleeper truck for all this?

Yeah I still run that truck for some RGN stuff that goes out of town. The rest of it is done with the Pete 378. Right now the KW is in the shop with a cracked head. It got over torqued and was cracked right at a bolt hole. So until I decide exactly what I am going to do with it, it is down. Not really sure if I want to spend almost 10,000 to replace the head, braze it or find a used motor and get the head and other parts off of it for spares. Downside to that is no warranty.

Will the glad hand plug handles screw with the use of the ramp loading??

So Bob, enlighten us, who overtourqued the head?

Wombat, the way that I have it situated the covers are under where the rollers on the RGN touch my frame. Originally my plan was to use Hydraulic Quick Connects attached to the glad hands. Thinking about all the wonderful salt and other corrosive things that I run in to during the winter I decided that was not my best option. If they were going to be a problem, I would have just left a threaded nipple sticking out and put a PVC pipe cap on the end. I used to do that with my Transfer Truck when we hauled chips or paved with Southland Paving. It never failed with their CAT Paver was on the job, if you didn't take the glad hands off you lost them.

Cummins Rocky Mountain in SLC, UT. They were the last ones that had the valve cover off.

PTD will you and RJ please quit calling me Bob. I find it disrespectful as it is not my name. You can call me Rob or Robert but not Bob.

Ok, Robert it is. But since we are being formal now, should we refer to your company as Garcia Sloan transportation also?:Trucker:

So anyways, ROBERT, who over torqued the head? wouldn't they be liable for the repair?

Well, this puts me in a quandary. I thought that calling you Bob was an attempt at being friendly, as it is the most popular nickname for Robert. I have worked for and with many 'Bobs', and none of them complained. The only ones that had a problem with it were the ones who no one took seriously, which is the root of my problem. Since you had to go and make it a respect thing, I cannot call you what you want, because I really don't respect you. I'll have to take this under consideration...

Tim, the above is your girlyman. In a snit about a common nickname?

PTD, the work that was done on the truck that resulted in the cracked head was a couple of years ago. The time frame has been too great for there to be any liability account on Cummins for the damage. The crack was on the inside along a bolt hole about half way down the left side of the head. There really is nothing I can do about it except pay to have the issue taken care of and it is not a cheap repair for that matter. Just another fun part of owning and maintaining your own equipment.

To answer your question about the trucking company it is a dba of Garcia-Sloan Corporation. Yes it would be fine to call it that as it is my families business. I own the transportation division. My brother runs the equipment division and drives for me.

RJ, that is your deal and your issue. Do what you want, all I can do is ask.
