Back in February I paid about $1750 for my truck license plate.
I'm selling my truck and no longer need the plate so I'm gonna turn it in.
Will I get any of that $1750 back? :wtf:

you should get the unused insurance refunded to you.you will probably have to pay for renewal till time toturn in place.

That's a good question Dave. In Mississippi we only got a credit for future tags when you turned in one. Not sure how it works on tags for big trucks tho. I always managed to wait until the tag expired before I sold a truck.....lol

It don't look like it Dave.

I looked at the link you provided and then clicked on the link at the bottom of that page.
All 4 links on the page that pops up refer to 'rental' trucks and trailers for periods of 30 days or less. :wtf:

Yup I saw that also when I posted the links.
My thinking is they require a rental truck/trailer to estimate time/distance traveled in the state.
That they are not going to be very receptive to a refund on Commercial Plates.
The only way to be sure would be to contact the DMV and if they do refund unused time, the faster you do it the more you will get back.

I called them on Friday and the lady that does 'prorate' plates wasn't in at the time.
Then I was gonna run up and turn the plate in before they closed, but I ended up talking with my prospective boss again, and didn't have time to make it up there before they closed for the weekend.. :wtf:
Hopefully things will take a turn for the better and I can get that gig I was talking to you about the other night.
I won't know how to act only being away from home 2 nights a week and home by 4 pm on Fridays. :wow:

IRP (Prorate) works this way. The plate is paid until March 31....if you turn it in before ...you lose the month that you turn it in. ie; Turn it in on the 1st of the month and you get docked for the whole month. Turn it in on the last day of the month and you lose that day only.

Dave, when I gave Brian my plate back, I asked about turning it in. What he told me was this. If they turn it in, they pro-pate the use and then give me 10% of the money as a refund. :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: If they flipped the plate and put it on another truck, I would get 100% of the pro-rate back. :D :D :D
I know this sucks, but that's what I was told.
I let them flip the plate and I only lost 1 month pro-rate.

Dave
When I left the last carrier. I got about $500 bucks back on the unused portion of the plate. It was a TexaS BASE PLATE.
You should get back any unused portion of it. Based on quarters.
Your ex carrier may charge you for handling it.

So Dave, what happened on the plate???????
I turned it in first thing in the morning on the 1st, but the lady was nice enough to backdate the paperwork to the day before so I'd get credit for the full month of Sept. also.
As normal, I'm waiting for the State to process it and send me the remaining $$$ for the unused months.
