Hey, guys (gals)
If you've glanced over my other post about my hoby of building scale truck models, you might have caught that I participate in Buildoff's... Competitions which have rules, and we compete to see which models completed are the public's favorites... The last contest was Delivery Trucks...

I built a T600B with 40' flatbed with stakes, a load of lumber and a 'piggy-back' forklift truck mounted to the rear...

I got last place... :(

Not this time:
I would like your guy's (gal's) help...
Please give me ideas for the following contest:

Million Dollar Rigs, with Visible Load

1) Tractor trailer rigs only, nice looking well kept tractors. Over
the Road Tractor, must be a legal Interstate truck (It must have a
Sleeper and be within the 40' tractor length laws).
A, tractor is not to be more than 5 1/2 inches long.
B, no straight trucks and no day cabs

2) Trailer (s) must be open or have an exposed load.
A, tarped loads only if we can see the load.
B, you could use a curtain side but we got
to see the load any trailer type whatsoever as long as we can see the
load. The load must be exposed.

3) Trailers (s) may be single, double, triple, or B-Train. Any
combination
A, no restrictions on the overall length of your
rig in other words if you want to pull double 53 foot trailers we
will allow it... but the tractor is to be legal 40 ft.

4) The truck company maybe a real company or not.

5) Any truck up to present is applicable, but needs to meet today's
highways.
A, if you use a truck from the thirties make us
believe somebody re-built it and we might see it in the truck stop or
rest area next week.

6) Truck must be photographed sitting on a local map, a map from your
state. That's right you heard it an Atlas type road map.

Also if you want to build a model as well, let me know by PM me and I'll try to help you anyways I can!

Oh man! This would be so cool to have one built of my father-in-law's truck!

I have no suggestions, sorry....

If it's a Freightliner FLD (sorry the very front of your pic. is cut off), yeah I can do it... Besides it's black, easy enough (Flat Black :p ?)

The 1/87 FLD available to me to use is a FLD 120 Resin Kit I'd have to build up... Here is what it looks like built.

(model was not built by me)

But what kind a trailer do you haul? I think I caught you doing flatbeddin, so whats the whole setup like? If your serious, PM, and I can get more details from you... Also go check out this topic so you can see what I've done: http://www.truckstopusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=127

Just so you guys can get an update...

I've decided to model a Peterbilt 379. It is on a 350" chassis with a LCS. I've given it a retro look with the single headlights. The trailer is a Alum. step deck 48'... It's Chrome/Alum./Blue and Silver with black front fenders...

Now I can't figure out what to do for the "Visible Load" aspect of the contest...

Thought's I've had:
Jet engine, mostly tarped
Parade Float - for lets say 4th of July
a load of more 48' Hi-boy trailers (one spread and the other a tri-axle)
a simple Strip Mine Front Loader's bucket... Maybe the Wheels from it too.
Another vehicle, ie: Show Truck, New Truck, Truck Bodies, Wrecked Truck???

any more ideas?

Whats the most unique load you've seen on a flatbed like the one I'll be using?

Of these, which sounds the most interesting?

It's still got a lot of details to be added, but the paint/graphics are done, and this is a mock up...

I know the quality of the photos is to be desired, but the final photos will be done under better lighting, to show the beauty...
This is still ATCO Transportation inspired colors, but more of a show truck with the introduced Silver two-tone. I unno if I am trully happy with the LCS, but oh well, looks nice an big!

The flatbed's loaded with New Tin Cans... I found the load on a pair of some flatbed pups, and weathered them some to bring out their details...
I am still unsure about the load, but I don't think any of the other modelers will model this kind of load...

If any of you flatbedders wanna help me out on how to tie this load down, it'd certainly be appreciated...

Here is some of my competition, already posted - I have till the end of May, so far so good... I think anyways...
