Just got back home last night. Leaving out again tomorrow afternoon. No computer where I'm at. I'm attending Central Tech Truck Driver Training School in Drumright, OK. I'm tired of driving hotshot under 26,000lbs and only able to take loads under 9500lbs because of no CDL. It's a long story but I couldn't get a CDL because I'm an amputee. I was born missing my left arm below the elbow. DOT said I needed to have a prosthetic arm in order to get my CDL. After a year and a half of jumping through ALOT of hoops, I finally got the prosthetic arm and hand at a cost of $40,000! Fortunately the great state of Oklahoma paid the tab! I will still be driving hotshot after I get my CDL but I will be able to bump my GCWR to 33,000lbs which will allow me to take loads up to 15,000lbs. Right now I'm missing alot of loads that pay really good because I'm limited to 9500lbs. I can get a contract on 10 & 12,000lb loads at $1.80/mi. I can also do 1000 gallon tanks of chemicals on my 40ft gooseneck flatbed at $2.10/mi. I just passed my CDL written test yesteday with a perfect 100% on combo, air brakes, haz-mat, tanker, doubles & triples, and pre-trip! :D
